According to some BARC volunteers, only eight "last chance" dogs remain at the shelter.

The dogs have until June 8 to be adopted, and then they will be euthanized.
If you want to adopt one of these dogs, go to the BARC shelter at 3200 Carr St. BARC's phone number is (713) 238-9600.
If you would like to set up a meeting with one of the dogs, please e-mail Kathy Deffebach at kdeffebach@sbcglobal.net.

GREAT JOB HOUSTON - AND SURROUNDING AREAS!! I am never amazed at what can be done by the wonderful people in this area!! BARC started with 24 last chance dogs and this is now down to 8!! WONDERFUL! BUT - WE HAVE TO SAVE THESE LAST 8 ALSO!! If any of my 4 fosters had been adopted this past weekend at our adoption day in Humble, I would have attempted to foster one of these sweet dogs! But alas, none of mine found their forever homes this weekend, so I am still at 7 dogs in my household (3 are mine). COME ON HOUSTON - WE CANT LET THESE SWEET LIVES COME TO AN END!! THEY DESERVE TO HAVE WONDERFUL HOMES AND LOTS OF LOVE!! Lets countdown to 0 Last Chance Dogs!! THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FROM ALL OF THEM!

My daughter and I went over to BARC yesterday and took home one of the last chance dogs. You guys there are wonderful and I wish we could have taken them all home! There are still many cuties left and I hope others will be brave and go visit.

I have a 7 year old very well taken care of tan cocker spaniel. Has never bitten anyone, is a very good companion. I have had people who are afraid or scared of dogs love Pooh. My job is too demanding and my daughter has grown up and he is not getting all the love, attention and exercise that he deserves. He goes to the doctor more than I do as a human. I am just trying to find him a good loving home for free.

TO THE WOMAN WITH THE COCKER - PLEASE DONT GIVE HIM AWAY FOR FREE! Some people are known not to take care of something that is free - just doesnt mean a whole lot to them I guess! All animals are worth something!! ALSO - IF IT IS A PURE COCKER - PLEASE FIND THE COCKER RESCUES LISTED ON PETFINDER.COM to see if they would be able to help you find a new home!
