So you've taken your puppy through obedience training, but he still have a few "issues?" Or is your cat a sweetheart while you're at home but destroys the curtains when you're gone? Well, the SPCA has the answer!

The Houston SPCA is now offering Behavior Short Courses. These one hour sessions help pet owners combat those lingering issues you may be facing. The upcoming classes are focused on dogs, but they've had classes for cats in the past and are sure to have more.

The next class is "Leash Manners for your Dog" on March 24th. If your dog can heal like a champ, then you may want to check out "Teaching Your Dog to Come" on April 7th or "FETCH!" on April 14th.

Go to www.spcahouston.org for all the details. Each class is only $10 and will be taught by one of the SPCA's Behavior Consultants.

Sign up today and let us know how it goes!

That's great that they are offering classes. My rescue group has a prof dog trainer that volunteers her time every Saturday morning for all the dogs that get pulled from BARC. Training is essential and I am glad they are offering these classes.

You can also goodle NILIF (Nothing in Life is Free) and those training methods can help in the mean time before you attend the classes. :-)

I checked on the classes and they are not $10.00 they are $85.00 for pets adopted at the SPCA and $100.00 for other pets. Please let me know where you received this information about classes for $10.00.

Thanks.

Lilia- I'm glad you're interested in the classes! The $85/$100 prices are for the training sessions that last six weeks. This includes their Basic Training classes, Kitten Kindergarten, Puppy Socialization, etc. The one-hour Behavior Short Courses that I talked about in the blog are $10 each. You can go to www.spcahouston.org and then go to their Animal Behavior & Training link for more information on all of the classes provided. Have fun!
