Sounds like the name of a weird bar, huh? It's true, though: bunnies actually can growl. That would scare me: shades of the "ferocious rabbit" from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. However, the bunnies we know and love are usually ridiculously cute, as evidenced by these little critters: and they are available through Houston's Bunny Buddies, which is celebrating 10 years of rabbit rescue. BB's big event is Saturday, November 4th at Bering United Methodist Church at 1440 Harold in Montrose (map here). You'll find more information on the anniversary celebration by clicking here. B ring your healthy/fixed bunny for a fun day with other bunny friends. BB will have a special shirt for sale $12 and our very first calendar for $10. All proceed go toward spays/neuters and providing food for foster bunnies at the shelter. You can get a sneak peak of the shirt by clicking here. More info: Free refreshments, Free goodie bags for the first 50 families and gifts for the kids, Bunny pedicure ($5 suggested donation), Hay, litter and bunny gifts for sale, Free entrance to Mr. McGregor’s Fall Harvest (bunny buffet), Silent Auction/ Sales Booths/Door Prizes, Portraits with your bunny available. To volunteer or donate items for the silent auction email events@bunnybuddies.org or call 713-436-3719 1 CommentsLeave a comment |
Dear Lisa,
The bunny on the right in your blog is my foster, Roomba. I've really enjoyed being Roomba's foster mom and nursing her back to health. It's been a joy to watch her get stronger and blossom as a bunny who now enjoys the house-rabbit life all of them should have.
When Roomba came into rescue, she had infected eyes, ear mites, urine scald and a UTI. Two weeks after those were cured, she got a bad case of fur mites. All have been resolved and Roomba was spayed on 11/10. When she first came to me, she only ate hay and pellets. She now looks forward to lettuce and carrots with some Craisins or raisins for dessert. She also likes to nibble on cucumbers, parsley, cilantro and apples. Because Roomba didn't recognize veggies as food (people think a bunny "doesn't like them" when they just don't know what they are), I had to offer everything at least 3 times before she ate it. There's no stopping her now! Roomba is a great bunny and I'm thrilled that you're sharing her beauty with your readers!
