Crates that will carry the dogs to the US
Courtesy Bestfriends.orgWhat an effort this has been. Best Friends has been working with
Beirut for the Ethical Treatment of Animals to airlift 295 dogs and cats from the city to its no-kill shelter in Utah. As you know,
Lebanon had been involved in a conflict with
Israel and there was a great deal of destruction on both sides. Not only were humans displaced but so were animals. Best Friends has gone in to help re-home some of the four legged victims.
The plane landed in New York at 3PM Houston time to refuel before making its final stop in Las Vegas. There is just way too much to blog about here/ Best Friends has a site with all the updates here.
That is so awesome! I love hearing things like this.
Best Friends are wonderful, what a job, and my goodness, my heart was breaking when I hit on the BETA web site. I started to get tears when looking at the tiger picture and the monkeys. My heart breaks for them, and just think if the animals are in this shape, what the humans that live there must be enduring. I know that it has to be 100 times worse than any hurricane you could live through. I wish I had a plane and I could just swoop in and save them all, including the innocent children, along with the animals. I'm especially upset over the caged wild animals in the zoo that have no meat to eat. The monkeys starting to do happy dances before they even got to them with all the banana's, because the primates are starving made me cry. All I can do is pray for those animals and people, but Best Friends you are on the top of my list of HEROES today. Bless you all. My prayers will be to help these people as they help the helpless. Thank you Lisa, I'm going to be praying for the animals and people there.

Kudos to Best Friends!!!!!
What a great story! I donated to BETA through the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), and I'm glad to see that other organizations like Best Friends were active in assisting those animals in Beirut.
