Houston's NEW food bank.. for animals!

Rescue Bank, a 501 (c) (3), has started operations in Houston to support the animal rescue and foster community by collecting and distributing much-needed supplies. Patterned after the food bank model, Rescue Bank is a non-profit, volunteer organization that will solicit and warehouse donations, and then distribute collected supplies to the no-kill community. Items distributed to date include food, crates, kennel panels, leashes and collars, small animal cages, over-the-counter medicines, bowls, shampoo and toys.

As a new organization, Rescue Bank is still building its resource base, securing space and adding volunteers. For that reason, we will be gradually ramping up to meet the community’s needs. Initially, our focus will be supplies and food, with priorities established by the responses we get to our registration questionnaire. By next year we hope to be fortunate enough to provide financial grants for veterinary services and spay/neuter expenses.

Rescue groups and fosters interested to register their needs can download the registration form from our website, www.rescuebank.org. Click on Request Supplies and Application. Completed forms can be emailed or faxed to the address or number shown below. All animal rescue groups are encouraged to register, including dog, cat, avian and small mammal or reptile.

We appreciate all referrals to potential donors. Rescue Bank won’t be caring directly for any animals, focusing instead on supporting those who do. For more information, please contact: Elizabeth Asher at 2401 Fountainview, Suite 622, Houston, 77057. Her phone number is 713-974-0650 or the fax is 713-974-0668. Her email is asher@rescuebank.org
