A worried dog owner writes: My precious dog Georgia broke free from her collar on Friday, 5/19 at 7:30 AM on Gray Street at Baldwin (the CoCo Coffee Shop). She was struck by a car, and then just disappeared. We have been searching and searching for her for 2 days now, and it is just breaking my heart. We have put up 300 flyers, newspaper ad, online ads, vets, shelters, everything. Someone thinks they may have seen her near the 2222 Smith Lofts Sunday evening. She is not wearing any identification - no collar. Hopefully SOMEONE will see her. She means everything to me and is lost and scared and hurt . Georgia is a 4 year old White German Shepherd. She is about 85lbs and is all white/off-white with medium length hair. She has brown eyes and big white pointy ears. She also has a black spot on her tongue. She may have been spotted Tuesday morning at I-10 and Height Boulevard. Contact Kristyn at krpotter@cisco.com or 281.658.5851 13 CommentsLeave a comment |
Please help us find Georgia. She has been my daughter's best friend, companion, and protector since she attended A&M. Georgia is used to being inside except for walks in the park, supervised playtime, and romping in my backyard. She is not used to the chaos of urban Houston and all of the dangerous vehicles. What has occurred is a tragedy, but I am extremely optimistic that there is someone out there who will recognize her and assist us in bringing her back home. Please keep your eyes open and don't hesitate to approach Georgia calmly or to pass this message to any friends in the area of Midtown, Downtown, the Heights, or any surrounding area. Georgia is lost or with someone who has not seen our flyers. She could possibly be with someone who prefers not release her. Georgia is passionately devoted to my daughter, Kristyn. Thank you for any assistance you can provide. We want Georgia back home!
May 25, Thursday:
This is the seventh day of our missing Georgia. It is breaking our hearts to think she is wandering the streets where there is so much danger for her. I posted several flyers yesterday in the Heights at vet clinics, Krogers, Jax, and a few other places. I left business size cards with Georgia's picture and contact phone number and flyers at Channel 11 in the hopes they would be passed on to their news trucks to keep in their vehicles because they travel the entire Houston area. Thank you KHOU for displaying community compassion! I also left cards and flyers with several Houston Police and Emergency officers asking them to take the cards to their stations for other officers to keep with them in the event they spot Georgia. Georgia could have easily wandered from Midtown to my daughers previous address on Allen Parkway/Studemont where she had lived the past year. Getting to the Heights area where she was possibly spotted would take her on a journey down Studemont crossing many busy streets, but is is possible. She could be anywhere by now. We are hoping that someone will find Georgia and make the great effort in reading ads, visiting clinics and not give up in reuniting Georgia with my daughter, Kristyn. For all of you reading this, no matter how much time goes by, please continue watching out for Georgia. Thank you for continuing the search! 281.658.5851
If you havent already, put info on lost and found websites: Petfinder.com; lostadog.com. And never, never give up hope!!!! I pray she is ok and that she is found quickly!!
Just tried to call you to give you the website info above, and your mailbox is full. I am praying there is good news on your phone about Georgia!!!!!
Donna, thank you SO much for your advice. This is Kristyn's mother. We are still looking. I went back to Midtown today to replace some signs and add new ones. Did the same yesterday in the Heights. We are calling the shelters daily and many many vet clinics. Please continue to be on the lookout for Georgia. We are NOT going to stop looking for her so she can come home to her "mommy", Kristyn. My phone is 281.537.2380. Thank you for all of your help!
A group of people are trying to organize a search team for Georgia this weekend. I have emailed Kristyn to see what a good time would be for her. If ANYONE is interested please contact me at 713-828-9951 and I will call you back with the details when its all figure out.
I know it is Memorial Day weekend but it sure would be a great way to start the Holiday!
Count me in! I went back to Midtown today to check placed flyers. I changed out a few, added a few, and passed out another 200 business cards with Georgia's picture, reward, and contact information. Called the shelters again. Placed flyers at Kristyn's old apartment on Allen Parkway/Studemont. Met a gal that is friends with a newscaster for Channel 2. She took flyers and cards and offered to contact her. We'll see what happens. Let's bring Georgia home!
Georgia has been lost for 12 days. We received a call yesterday that she was possibly seen in the vicinity of Barnaby's Cafe on W. Gray (opposite the cafe). She is out there and she is scared. If anyone sees Georgia, PLEASE firmly call her in a non threatening way. If this was Georgia, she has been roaming the streets and is hungry. She does not have a collar on, so if you see her please try to coax her towards you and CALL IMMEDIATELY: 281.658.5851. We need your help. Thank you SO much.
I would like to THANK Janey for contacting us. She sighted a dog that she thought may have been Georgia. Janey lives near the SW Frwy., away from Midtown, but noticed our flyers while "pup-sitting" her daughter's dogs in Midtown and took the time to call in case it was Georgia. THANK YOU SO much for the lead. It does not appear that this is our missing pet, however, Janey is going to pass on the information to others to increase our chances in bringing Georgia home!
We may have had a positive sighting of our Georgia at Taft/W.Gray across from Barnaby's Cafe near a blue single story clinic on Monday. The gentleman said that he was able to coax Georgia within about 8 feet of him. He said that she was wagging her long white tail, but appeared to be very skiddish. By the time he went back to a flyer to get our phone number she was gone. We have searched that area since, posted more flyers, and passed out many cards with Georgia's picture and phone number to all who were walking dogs. The police in the Midtown area have been very kind and have said that they will keep an eye out for her. We are desperate to think that Georgia is out there by herself. We WANT HER HOME! If you see her, please kindly coax her towards you and tell her to SIT. She is an extremely friendly dog, but probably wary of strangers by now. Call (281.658.5851) if you see her or are able to get her into your car or yard. Thank you for all of your help.

I realy hope you find your dog. I am a BIG lover for German Shepherds - they are SO smart! I've been reading some info for German Shepherds and I've learned that they LOVE theire owners, so don't be surprised if one day she appears in front of your door. I realy hope she does! Best of luck finding her!
I know this sounds insane but I have found a dog in Savannah Georgia that fits your dogs description. She is obviuosly some one's baby. She favors her back hip and I have not been able to get her to the vet to get that checked out yet. SHe obviously has been traveling a while. SHe does not ho;d up her ears like your dog so she might just be a look alike. I'm sending her picture to your e-mail
