A man was arrested early Thursday in connection with the torture of a puppy who was found severely burned on Good Friday. The dog, named Mercy by the vets and caregivers who tried to save her, later died. Dallas police arrested Deshawn Brown, 21, at his mother's home Thursday in the Denton County community of Corinth shortly before 1 a.m. He faces several charges, including cruelty to an animal. "All the personnel involved with this are quite relieved to have this gentleman in custody, based on the extreme cruelty of this crime" said Dallas police spokesman Sgt. Robert Patterson. Brown was being held at the Lew Sterrett Justice Center in Dallas.
Mercy died over the weekend. A memorial service was scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Operation Kindness shelter, 3201 Earhart Drive in Carrollton. 7 CommentsLeave a comment |
I just CANNOT believe that someone would do this. I'm disgusted with the fact that someone could live with themselves after something like this. An innocent puppy, NO ANIMAL deserves this. No words can describe how terrible this is.
awwwwww that is so sad! i cant believe someone would do that! Its not right. I'll pray for the poor puppy thats now in heaven.
Right now, I am concerned with an abandoned pit bull puppy. Residents from Louisiana moved in next door about a month ago. They left out of town about two weeks ago leaving the puupy outside without food and water. We have been providing some water and puppy food, filed a complaint with SPCA on Monday, still no response. Puppy is very thin. Please bring light to this matter. Address of abandoned dog is 1506 W. 43rd Street. Owner has been contacted, but still no action.
Virginia, can you foster this puppy until a new home can be found. If the SPCA finally decides to pick up this puppy then they will euthanize it just because it is a Pit Bull. If you can foster it the Homeless Pet Placement League can help find it a new home. Check out their site for contact info www.hppl.org
Don't wait for the owners to return or the SPCA to intervene, by then the pup will be dead.
This MONSTER is already out of jail on bail. His bond was only $2500! So he had to come up with only $250! Can you believe it?! He spent only ONE night in jail before walking away scot free until his trial (if there IS a trial). Sometimes the system SUCKS.
My hope lies in knowing that the God of all creation will have the final sentencing for this monster who should be treated the same way he treated this precious innocent trusting baby!
I found a stray pit mix in a ditch barely able to walk, 3 or 4 paws have been injured or burned. Currently taking antibiotics and needs a home or foster home.
