Marcibit, a 38 year old Southern white rhino, died at the Houston Zoo today. Zoo director Rick Barongi says Marci came to Houston in 1971 with a male Southern white rhino named Samburu. They'd been born in the Umfolozi Game Reserve in South Africa. They spent all their lives together but never produced any babies. The Zoo says necropsy (animal autopsy) results are expected within the six weeks.
