Although you may not have heard of it, animal chiropractics have been around for about three decades. In Houston, there are at least three doctors who treat both humans and animals.

"The response has been astronomical. It’s become where my human practice is a privilege practice because the animals are here," Dr. Jackie Doval said.

Dr. Doval never thought her training in humans would eventually lead to treating four-legged patients. "I took the human model for the animal and I did hot packs, ultrasound, massage and I adjusted this dog and in a week-and-a-half the dog was fine," Dr. Doval said.

Now 70 percent of her patients are either horses, dogs or cats like Puck.

"I was at the point where we felt we should make a decision whether he should be euthanized or not," said Puck’s owner, Nancy Abercrombie. Instead, she turned to Dr. Doval.

"Yes, I believe in miracles," Abercrombie said.

"What I prefer is the animals and the humans that own them — see if the animal refers the human then I’m doing really good," Dr. Doval said.

By the looks of her patients, there’s plenty of good to go around.
