Here's the story we ran Tuesday, the 28th on our 5PM newscast. You can watch the story here.
Eight-year-old Sweep can do just about anything in the blink of an eye. But her awards didn’t come easy. Sweep has a severe hip condition that can make it difficult to walk at times. "The vet said that they would never probably do anything more than just be a pet and sit on the couch," said owner Sarah Dow. That wasn’t good enough for Dow, so she turned to an animal chiropractor. "People think we are crazy, but I don’t really care about that," she said. In a matter of days, Sweep was up and running. The results were so remarkable, Dow took a second pet for treatment. Although you may not have heard of it, animal chiropractics have been around for about three decades. In Houston, there are at least three doctors who treat both humans and animals. "The response has been astronomical. It’s become where my human practice is a privilege practice because the animals are here," Dr. Jackie Doval said. Dr. Doval never thought her training in humans would eventually lead to treating four-legged patients. "I took the human model for the animal and I did hot packs, ultrasound, massage and I adjusted this dog and in a week-and-a-half the dog was fine," Dr. Doval said. Now 70 percent of her patients are either horses, dogs or cats like Puck. "I was at the point where we felt we should make a decision whether he should be euthanized or not," said Puck’s owner, Nancy Abercrombie. Instead, she turned to Dr. Doval. "Yes, I believe in miracles," Abercrombie said. "What I prefer is the animals and the humans that own them — see if the animal refers the human then I’m doing really good," Dr. Doval said. By the looks of her patients, there’s plenty of good to go around. 2 CommentsLeave a comment |
I've used Dr. Doval for several of my little dogs. Many have come to us with back problems and Dr. Doval has been able to help get them back in shape.

Are there any doctors in the Dallas area? My dog has prescription anti inflamatories and muscle relaxers for his back problems and they're not working.
