This entry is dated November 11th.. Sorry I didn't get it up sooner! The updates: more than 375 dogs and cats at their hurricane rescue center, conflicting reports on the numbers of animals left behind, and the controversy over Louisiana no longer allowing out of state vets to come in to volunteer to help.

I don't understand Louisiana. I guess they will just let their animals slowely starve to death. They don't want our help, but they sure will take our tax dollars. They have done nothing, but block animal rescue from the beginning. I hope enough people call and complain about this and it gets resolved. I can tell you after this is all over New Orleans will never get any of my money. The way they have treated people trying to help is a disgrace. I want to know where the big guns (HSUS) are that we gave millions to. It seems they are no where to be found. They are defintely not putting up a fight for the animals. It only seems like the small groups are doing anything.

Send an email to the Louisiana Department of Veterinary Medicine (admin@lsbvm.org),call(225-342-2176),write(263 Third Street, Suite 104 Baton Rouge, LA 70801. This is the department that made such a short-sighted and riducalous decision. Or contact Gov. Blanco-she signed Executive Order 05-43. If a nation can't take care of it's pets how can it care of it's people?
