The blast arrives!
Our typically mild winter weather is about to be pushed out of here - by an arctic airmass!
High temperatures today actually reached into the lower 40s, but the winds are beginning to pick up out of the east. That easterly wind - what's a warm wind in the summer - is a very cold wind this time of year. In fact, the Gorge will essentially become a wind tunnel that will allow cold arctic air to spill into the valleys west of the Cascades.
Still, record temperatures aren't anticipated - the record low on Tuesday morning is 9 degrees, and the forecast low is 21. Daytime highs to start the week will be near the freezing mark.
Stay warm!
Joe

Hi! You guys are missing the BIG weather and traffic story! We live in Home Valley, WA near Stevenson. While I-84 was closed between Troutdale and Hood River, traffic was being advised to take SR 14. Guess what? It was CLOSED because cars kept sliding off the highway just east of Stevenson. And no one was reporting it! We tried to drive into Stevenson at about 2PM this afternoon and discovered this. Guess what? We just went back down to SR 14 to try again and SR 14 is a parking lot! We live about 1 mile from SR 14 at about 400' and we have over 1 foot of snow. Come out here and see it, it'll be good footage! And fun too!

Hey weather people,
While Portland may not have any snow, it is here in the lower elevations of the southern part of the metro area. Here around Silverton, Mollala and Mulino there is snow and it doesn't appear to be stopping; Really nice big flakes!
Here are some pictures

We have snow on the Oregon City Hilltop--almost an inch and still snowing. Estacada has about three inches of snow. The snow is already here! Kids are building snowforts and snowmen, making snow angels, the works!

Hi: I live out in Sandy and we now have nearly 8 inches of snow on the ground and it still is coming down hard. You should send a news crew out here, if they can make it. Great pictures. Linda McCarthy
