It just won't stop!
What's that...what won't stop? The snow! There has been an amazing stretch of snowy weather in the Cascades over the past few weeks, and it continues.
The base at Timberline is already well over 100 inches, and we're going to add to it - significantly - over the next 48 hours. Another strong winter storm is expected to barrel through the Northwest, and that means more mountain snow. In fact, by this time Wednesday morning, there could be three more feet of snow in the Cascades!

All this may be good news for skiers and boarders, but it looks like the Cascade passes will stay quite snowy over the next few days, too. So keep the chains handy!

Yesterday (Sunday the 1/13) was the most incredibly perfect day at Mt. Hood meadows that I've seen in years!

No snow accumlation predicted for tonight, Monday, 1/14, but at 6pm it was snowing so hard on Hwy 26 east of Sandy just before Cherryville Hill, we had to get off the highway to see. We crawled home to Zigzag where we are at 1500 ft elevation. It's still snowing and now over 3 inches on the ground. That's over an inch an hour, similar to what we had last Tuesday when it snowed 10 inches from 1am until 6am and then started raining.
Of course no accumulation was predicted for tonight and no heavy snow alerts or winter storm warnings. That's usually when we have the real snow!

Hey Jason, glad to hear the weather on the mountain was so nice this past Sunday. Pretty nice here in Portland, too.
Nancy, I can't speak for Matt, who was working last night, but I think I remembered him talking about at least some snow. Regardless, glad you got home safely! Hope you enjoyed your dose of the white stuff, too.
And J - I live out there - a nice treat so see that snow this morning!

Hey Joe, I live in Canby and we've been getting snow showers for about the last 15 minutes, no accumulation because it is so light, but definitely snowing. It's 31 outside my hosue, and it's about 1 o'clock.
