Can you spell H-O-T?

The Dog Days of Summer are upon us as we continue to head into multiple days of temperatures at 90 degrees and above. In fact, the next 3 days we should make it to the 100s. An area of low pressure well to our south should bring us a southerly flow aloft by the end of the week which should bring us back to the 80s by the weekend. It may also bring a chance for thunderstorms to the cascades. I hope you have a way to stay cool.

Jim Donovan,
First Alert Storm Team

Temperatures:
Coast 75-80
Valleys close to 100
Central / East 88-95

6 miles west of Monmouth at the east foot of the coastal range. Currently, our thermometer reads 108.3. Pretty darn toasty here.

Thanks for all the great temperature reports! Love that. FYI... thermometers need to be in the shade and well ventilated. If it's near the sunny side of a building for example, that makes readings read high from heat reflected off the building. Best place is over a grassy surface, mounted 5 feet high and again well ventilated and shaded.
Those are the basic specs, anyway.

Does anyone know if the current weather we're experiencing indicative of what we're likely to see for the remainder of the summer?

Can't say for sure. We can have a big heat wave like this and then cool down and have more reasonable weather for the rest of summer. One heatwave does not a summer make!
