Brief Snow...

8:31 AM Tue, Feb 10, 2009 |

 E-mail

Rain and snow mix will fall in downtown and on the valley floor this morning. Snow will stick at elevations above 500ft. Up to an inch accumulation is possible this morning. In the Cascades up to a half foot of freshies will fall today.

Locally and In the valley the snow won't stick around long because we don't have a lot of entrenched cold air. Temperatures are chilly east of the mountains, but the lack of east winds is keeping the cold air trapped in Central Oregon.

This afternoon winds will shift to the south and snow levels will jump to over 1000ft. For the rest of the week and weekend snow will continue to fall in the Cascades and Coast Range but not on the valley floor.

After today high temperatures will reach the low to middle 40s and overnight lows will stay in the middle 30s.
Regards

Dave

At 2:45 pm today I went out on our deck to take video of the snow still falling, two hours after first video of the falling snow. It was reported Portland and area that the snow changed to rain sometime in the morning. All day I waited for the snow to stop, it didn't and we ended up with almost 4". We live in Warren at about the 360-70 ft. level. It still remains on our deck at 7:30 pm. This happens a lot especially this winter's snows and I guess more is probably to come. Were we in a 'cold zone' area that kept the snow coming? I'm originally from the midwest (WI) and I am use to snow. We have until 3-21 before spring? That doesn't usually make any difference, Mother Nature will do her thing when she wants. I'm looking forward to waking tomorrow to another day of ??? Also, thanks for showing Scappoose and St. Helens more on the Dappler 8000 map, there is life north of Portland that need to know what the weather and road conditions will be.
