Steph is here, but Pat Dooris and Joe Smith are not. Anne Yeager will join us live from Vernonia, where a lot of homes have gone nearly a week without power. After last year's floods, you can't blame folks in Vernonia for feeling like they can't catch a break.

Mel is Oregon's jazz icon, a former Motown drummer who now plays three nights a week at Jimmy Mak's. His septet includes piano, bass, and a four-horn lineup.
