We've got a couple options for Joe Smith's first "PDX Tonight" live shot on Monday. He suggested Lily Wilde and her 17-piece orchestra, at Duff's Garage. There's also Toumani Diabate, a legendary musician and storyteller from Mali who plays the kora, a 21-stringed harp. He's at the Aladdin. One of my fears starting this show was that it might be hard finding good events to send Joe to on Mondays and Tuesdays, especially in the winter. At least this week, that's not a problem. Along those lines, if you've got an idea for where we should send Joe any night, drop us an email or a comment. (We're working on getting a shared mailbox for the show -- in the meantime, I'm aweiss (at) kgw (dot) com.) |
