60 years of flying saucers in Portland

Matt Davis over at the Mercury brings news that It's a Beautiful Pizza on Belmont is hosting a celebration of the 60th anniversary of Portland's UFO sightings.

1947 was a banner year for flying saucers. The UFO expert at about.com has a short history on what happened in Portland that year.

Walter Lissy and Robert Ellis, who were both pilots, stated that the UFOs they saw were "disc-shaped," and moving at great speeds through the sky.

Had these sightings not occurred at the same time that the Roswell case was breaking, it would have received much more coverage than it did. (Link)
Back in April, Jack Penning went to Kelso where a man finally found the wreckage from a military crash in 1947. That plane was rumored to be carrying UFO parts.
