I just returned from the final night of the 2008 Republican National Convention. How many words are there for energized? Enthusiastic. Invigorating. Electrifying. All the synonyms in the world cannot describe the feeling we just experienced.
Tonight, we all gathered in the Xcel Energy Center not for a show, but to nominate a man who has given decades of his life to his country to be President of the United States. What we saw was a leader who is ready for the White House.
We learned so much about John McCain and his family this week. Both John and his wife Cindy are such giving individuals who truly care about their country. "Country First" is not just a campaign slogan - it is how John McCain has lived his life.
As the thousands upon thousands of balloons fell from the ceiling, I took a brief moment to reflect on what John McCain said to the American people tonight. He asked us to fight with him, and that is exactly what I intend to do!
It sure sounds like Obama is the pot calling the kettle black! He actually has the gall to call out McCain and Palin for not address the issues and the concerns of the middle class people when I have heard nothing from him in regards to or, that addresses these issues. I have heard no plan from Obama as to how he intends to “CHANGE” things. Obama, himself must not of been listening to McCain's speech or Palin’s. To mock McCain for his bio, at least we now know who John McCain is, where he stands, WHO he stands for, we now know something about the man, who is asking us to hire him to lead our country. I can't say that about Obama, other then a man who was raised by his grandparents and a single mom I know nothing about him, not his record, stand or plan. I myself know the plight of a single mom TODAY. I was a single mom of 2 once, going to go back to school to complete my education so I could support my children and provide them with a better life. I did it without money from my parents, as a white, female, classified as middle-class (because of where I was prior to my divorce, not after, but that is what they gauged my aid on), unable to qualify for special scholarships or grants I worked my way through school. Obama calls himself a common person, well he no longer knows that life, and he doesn’t know the struggles and issues of a middle-class family in today’s economy, for god sakes his wife alone makes over $300,000 a year, I only wish that were the income of the typical middle class family. And the idea that his wife, who is in the health industry, an administrator of a hospital, can be of help to the health care crisis issue is a JOKE! I remember my mother who was a nurse for over 25 years of her life complaining about how the administration and administrators got in the way of administering good, humane, quality care to patients. She resented that it was all about money and profit not the patient. Politicians have been talking about change for decades, what I WANT TO HEAR IS, SPECIFICALLY, HOW YOU ARE GOING TO CHANGE!!! Then I WANT TO KNOW THAT I CAN TRUST WHAT I’M BEING TOLD AND TRUST THAT IT WILL BE CARRIED OUT ..., TRUST that the person I elect can bring about this change, To me TALK IS CHEAP you have to show me! When Obama can step up to the plate and answer these questions instead of focusing on just attacking his opponent I will listen. Until he can prove to me he can and will do it, that he is a genuine guy that will do everything in his power to achieve these things, I'm going with the guy who CAN!!
I totally agree with Palin...she is a pitbull, a real attack dog. Interesting how derisive she was toward Obama's work with unemployed steel workers when her own husband is a united steel worker member...that boy better stay employed if he wants to hang around!
Vance Day's Blog of the days he spent at the 2008 Republication Convention certainly energized me as well.
I'm ready to move ahead with Joy and hope for John McCain to be elected by people who see a him as the best candidate for our great country at this time in history. McCain will bring the right kind of change. Let's fight together!
