Here's what we do know after today: Somebody's lying, has now perjured themselves in court, and there's a good chance it's both of them.

Here's what else I learned: I really don't care anymore!!

Baseball's steroid era is... in theory... over. There is now testing where there wasn't before. The important thing now is to keep it in the past, and keep the game clean.

If you used steroids to get ahead, or to keep your playing career alive, that's on your conscience, and you get to deal with the consequences. If your body breaks down or you become sterile because you used the 'roids, I'm not going to feel sorry for you. If you get found out, and branded as a cheater for your entire life... that's the price of doing business.

However, what's been going on since the Mitchell report amounts to nothing more than a witch hunt, without the burning people at the stake and such. Just like in Salem, Massachusetts back in the day, anybody can name names, sometimes without real proof. I'm not saying the Mitchell report didn't have proof, there just weren't a whole lot of slam dunk cases in there.

It's lame that guys got away with cheating for what is likely the better part of two decades. However, it's time to move on. I'm not saying we sweep the whole era under the rug or anything, but we should use it as a learning experience... an example of what happens when you don't hold people accountable, and turn a blind eye to what is going on.

The shame players, owners, and all of us fans should feel for letting this go on under our noses will be the true legacy of baseball's steroids era.

Now, to important things: Pitchers and catchers reported for spring training today.
