Hungry for More!

By Joe Becker

Had a great Thanksgiving. It's a wonderful time to reflect on life and give thanks...and my wife Janice is a fantastic cook so the whole day is special. When I got to work there was more food. The station managers take care of the staff, who has to work...and have a tasty thanksgiving dinner catered in the afternoon. I ate well at home...so I didn't eat anything here at the station, except for two pieces of Pumpkin Pie. As I said...very tasty.

Fun day at work, plenty of great games in the NFL and the big game in college between USC and Arizona State.

It's that time of year when the football games mean more and more every week.
Now that USC has beaten the Sun Devils...it will be interesting to see how the Ducks do against UCLA. One way or another...the Civil War will be a fantastic matchup on Dec. 1st.

If the Ducks beat the Bruins...then a win over OSU would mean a trip to the Rose Bowl.
If the Ducks lose to the Bruins...then OSU can tie Oregon at 8-4 with a win in the Civl War.
How about that? The Beavers can finish 9-4 if they beat the Ducks and Win their Bowl game.
That would give Head Coach Mike Riley 19 wins in the last two seasons.

We have another Friday Night Flights show tomorrow night and I'm looking forward to it.
I'll be at PGE Park covering the Central Catholic-Grant game.
It's been a great year so far...and I'm hungry for more!

We, as Beaver Fans, have been extremely tolerant of the entire Portland sports media for riding the magical duck bandwagon for the majority of the college football season. However, now is the time for all to realize that mistakes can be made, and now is the time to embrace the one true college football program that is a power in the PAC-10.
Go BEAVS!!!

Tennis fans are hungry too!

I found no mention in your sports section of the 2007 Davis Cup Finals being held at the Memorial Coliseum Nov. 30 Dec.2. It should be a fantastic match-up between our top America team and the defending champions from Russia. These teams are made up of some of the best tennis players in the world, and theyll be playing right here in Portland. This is not an exhibition match as often comes to Portland, but the real thing!

When Portland was first picked to host the event, some in the media reported there couldnt possibly be enough interest in the sport to warrant bringing the finals here. After all, the Trailblazers have a game in the Rose Garden that week-end, and the annual Oregon-Oregon State college football game will be played Saturday in Eugene.

On the contrary, tickets to this event sold out in the first 17 minutes. To the twelve thousand tennis fans which purchased tickets ranging from $90 to $600, this is a chance in a lifetime! The United States is the most storied nation in Davis Cup history with 31 victories. It hasnt hoisted the title since 1995 and has not hosted the event in 15 years. It doesnt get much better than this!
