Slowest sports day of the year

by Evan Chevrier
KGW Sports Producer

Wednesday is every sports guy's worst nightmare. Its the slowest sports day of the year. Its one of only two days on the calendar, where there isn't a single professional, or college sporting event. December 24th can be equally brutal, but usually there is some football news to talk about.
Wednesday is the day after the All Star game. There are no baseball games. No golf tournaments. There's just nothing. Sorry cycling fans, the Tour De France doesn't count.
Luckily there is a summer league game for the Blazers. But if Oden isn't playing, does anyone really care.
Trying to fill a three minute sportscast can be painful. All we can do is sit back, and hope that Mike Tyson bites somebody. Or hope news breaks that Pete Rose is betting on his grandkid's little league games. Or hope that Takeru Kobayashi will call a surprise news conference to announce he's retiring.
So stay tuned, and find out what we come up with.

Too bad the water skiing squirrel isn't performing somewhere. That always can fill some time. :)

Check out the Harlem Globetrotter's summer basketball camp at Mittleman Jewish Community Center! Last day is tomorrow (7/13) 0900-1200. Not only are they teaching these kids some terrific athletic skills, they are more importantly teaching them terrific life skills. Check it out!
