Reyes...a chance encounter today!
So, sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. Brian Warner and I were in Famous Dave's BBQ today grabbing a bite to eat between shoots....when low and behold, Jorge Reyes--the Beavs winning pitcher last night--arrived with his entire family for lunch. Surely, I couldn't let an opportunity to "advance" a story get away....but I didn't want to interfere with their family time. I walked up to them after they ordered....and asked if we could put them all on camera. Their response....a collective "heck yeah".
They were a complete joy. Put Jorge on camera...asking him about his families journey to get here. If you hadn't heard, his grandparents drove some 1200 miles from Monterey, Mexico to come watch their grandson pitch. And he's getting rockstar status wherever he goes today. Reyes told me he's getting a lot of "Hip Hip Jorges'" today...with people coming up and asking for his autograph. Sometimes these things just fall in your lap....and we're glad they do :)

Hi Adam, we were at our cabin in beautiful Cascade, Idaho, and although we didn't have your wonderful blogs, we did have ESPN. How we loved every game as you've reported on your blogs, and I loved all of the "outside of Rosenblatt" that you could report. Particularly, about the Reyes Family. Adam. you are on my favorite list, I'll be looking for more of your wonderful stories, but I've got to say, I only want to hear about our Beavers. Man what an awesome series, we can only hope for a "Threepeat", but as like all Beaver Fans, we're going to be guarded. I'm so happy you had a meal with the "Trio from the Oregonian", what a tough crowd, but what better time to chew the "Beaver Tail" . Rachael Bachman is our absolute favorite writer for the Oregonian, she gives the facts, doesn't interject her "Dumbass" opinions, and reports what should and shouldn't be said. Just the facts, and we adore her for that. Case in point...the news about about Mike Lissman's misdemeanor charge/felony that really informed all of the Beaver fans. If she hadn't reported that, on the first OSU game of the CWS, the Beaver Nation would would have been stupified. She's good, and so are you.
