This just goes to prove that money can't buy happiness, or wins. The New York Yankees with the highest payroll in baseball at $189 million are now in last place in the AL East. They're tied with Tampa Bay at $24 million.
Who's getting more bang for their buck now?
How about the San Diego Padres, now in first place in the NL West with a payroll of $58 million. The Cleveland Indians, first place in the AL Central, pay just $61 million for their ball club. The Brewers, first place, $70 million.
Get the picture, the Yanks have a little spending problem, and it might be time to visit Donny Deutsch.
Let's just hope General Manager Brian Cashman, has plenty of it, cash that is, he's going to need it. I guarantee he will be out of a job by August. Now, he's not the one who traded Jay Buhner, but he has made plenty of mistakes. And The Boss is ready to give him the hook.
And by the way, start getting used to seeing Alex Rodriguez in a Dodgers or Angels uniform next season, because he's not going down with the ship like The Captain, Derek Jeter.
