The Big Bluff ?

Interesting to see in today's Portland Tribune that Columnist Dwight Jaynes echoed my thoughts on the Blazers situation.

Here's what I said on the air on March 21st.

A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE WONDERING IF PAUL ALLEN WILL SELL THE BLAZERS... I REALLY DON'T THINK SO... WHY WOULD HE SPEND CLOSE TO 200 MILLION DOLLARS IN THE COURSE OF THE LAST COUPLE YEARS ON PLAYERS AND A NEW HEAD COACH IF HE WAS GOING TO SELL... IT'S LIKE COMPLETELY REMODELING YOUR HOME AND THEN PUTTING IT ON THE MARKET... ALLEN LOVES BASKETBALL... HE JUST WENT TO THE BLAZERS GAME LAST WEEK IN NEW JERSEY... LAST TIME I CHECKED NEW JERSEY ISN'T EXACTLY A VACATION HOT SPOT IN MID MARCH... I UNDERSTAND THE FINANCIAL SITUATION OF THE FRANCHISE... BUT WOULD IT REALLY MATTER IF PAUL ALLEN IS WORTH 22 BILLION DOLLARS... OR 22 POINT 3 BILLION IF HE SOLD THE TEAM... IF PAUL ALLEN IS INDEED SELLING... I'M NOT BUYING IT.

Personally I think Mr. Allen miscalculated a few things about the city of Portland. He probably thought Mayor Potter would bring out the checkbook right away. Doesn't sound like that is happening. Let's hope things work out for everyone involved.
