By Joe Becker Training camp is underway for the OSU Beavers and the PSU Vikings. The two teams will meet in the Season Opener on September 5th in Corvallis. "It's always been one of my favorite times," Beavers Coach Mike Riley told KGW, "because, you know you spend a good bit of the first part working on football and it really starts that last phase of forming the identity of your team." The Beavers have racked up 48 wins in the last six seasons under Riley and are 5-0 in Bowl games during that time. A big plus for OSU is that the Rodgers brothers are back and healthy. James had a broken collarbone and Jacquizz a shoulder injury. Jacquizz is coming off of one of the great freshman seasons in Pac 10 history. He rushed for nearly 13-hundred yards and a dozen tds last season. "You know, you just have to stay humble and just work harder," said Rodgers during media day on Monday. "...because, everybody...they know who you are now. It's just going to make me better." Meanwhile, the Vikings begin their third season under Head Coach Jerry Glanville. They have 38 returning letterman and 16 returning starters. Glanville is very excited about this year's sqaud. "First time ever, this is it," said Glanville. "This is us. This is what we want to do. I think you'll notice that in our identity as the season goes on." Let the fun begin! |
