And who wouldn't right now? Tonight, the Beavs beat Stanford for the third time in four meetings this season to advance to the best-of-3 finals against Texas El-Paso. Yes, I know, it's the postseason tournament that 'really doesn't matter'. I get that. But trust me, it does matter in the eyes of everyone who bleeds black and orange. It's a complete 180 from where this program was just 11 months ago. They were all lost in translation. They were coming off a winless Pac-10 season....so even one conference win would have been an improvement.
By the way, OSU hasn't played this deep into march in 60 years!! Yes, that would be the Slats Gill era! The Beavers deserve everything coming their way. Their hard work and dedication to Craig Robinson's system is quite impressive. I can only hope that a bigger program doesn't try to yank Robinson away with a huge payday. Something tells me he'll ride this wave for, at least, a couple more years!
It is nice to see someone else that is excited about this. The sad part is the lack of support by other fellow beaver believers. Sure we are not in the NCAA or NIT tournaments, but we are in a tournament so show some support. I was amazed when I went to the Houston game and there was less than 4,000 people at the game. I imagine that some of the kids we played the last 3 games that came from large city schools that had almost that many people at their high school games. COME ON BEAVER FANS !!!!! Just becasue baseball season has strarted does not mean that basketball season is over. We finally have a coach and a team that give a darn and we don't show up to support them. Sure this is not the Orange Express team from the early 80's but be happy for what we have.
I am also very dissapointed in the lack of coverage by the media during this post-season miracle. If you look at KGW.com there is no mention about the victory on the home page, the sports page or the Top OSU Beaver Stories page. The mens basketball highlights on that page are from the Cal and the WSU games. WOW ---- Those games were in Feb. Make sure we get good coverage of the local sports like the Lance Armstrong story or the article about Arizaona being the only PAC 10 team left in the NCAA. They are both good local stories to cover. Way to keep it local
