January 2009 ArchivesBy Joe Becker If you were watching the news tonight on KGW you may have noticed I ran a story about a Deli Shop in Pennsylvania that had football shaped Bologna. I mentioned during our 10 0'clock show on the CW that I like fried bologna. First let me say I've been eating pretty healthy for the last few months and have been doing some excercising as well. I eat oatmeal almost ever morning and plenty of chicken. I've lost mo... By Adam Bjaranson I was asked tonight, if I had one question to ask during the Annual Super Bowl Media Day, what would it be? Honestly, I'd ask what would be the chances of you (could be any Steeler or Cardinal) getting me a VIP pass to some swanky Super Bowl "after hours party". It goes without saying... the Super Bowl is the "can't miss" sporting ev... By Joe Becker I met one of Basketball's legends today. The great Curly Neal from the Harlem Globetrotters. Curly no longer plays for the Globies, but he is still one of their best ambassador's. Neal joined current Globetrotter Handles Franklin at the Portland/Gresham PAL Youth Center in N.E. Portland today. "We enjoy what we do," said Neal. "As long as we can put a smile on kids' faces, make them happy, a warm embrace... By Joe Becker Oregon State Basketball Coach Craig Robinson is still pinching himself a bit in what seems like a dream world. His sister Michelle Obama is moving into the White House with husband and President Elect Barack Obama...and Coach Robinson's Mom Marian is moving in as well. "It's things like that makes this seem like a practical joke," said Robinson when I asked him about his mom living at the White House. "My wife ... By Joe Becker I haven't really been rooting for any teams in the NFL Playoffs this year...but now, I have to admit that I would like to see a Cardinals-Steelers Superbowl. As many people know, I grew up in St. Louis. Yes, I was a Cardinals football fan. In fact, the first NFL game I saw in person was November 10, 1968. You may have guessed.
By Joe Becker They've done it! The OSU Beavers basketball team has won a Pac-10 game. It took just two Conference games under new head coach Craig Robinson for the Beavers to get their first Pac-10 win in nearly two years beating USC in overtime 62-58. "I was hoping there would be a day, but I did not mean anytime specifically," said Beavers Coach Craig Robinson in response to a question if he was surprised. "As you know, ... By Joe Becker What a season for Utah. The Ute's did everything they could and finished the season a perfect 13-0 with a 31-17 win over 4th Ranked Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. Let me say, I don't thing the Mt. West Conference and the WAC are near as strong as the say the SEC, PAC 10, Big 10 or Big 12. However, I do feel they deserve a shot at the National Title just like the other top teams. Why can't college officials get thi... 27 down... but still 7 to go! Papa Johns... Emerald Nuts... and Bell Helicopters! Wow....the corporate sponsors are a little much for me. Unlike the majority of you... I have to try to "study" these matchups and be the 'authority' figure on 'em all. But I've had it with this years bowl games-- now that the Pac-10 teams are finished. And how bout that? The conference that everybody from coast to coast said was having a "down year"...... |
