The Moos is Loose

9:03 PM Thu, Nov 30, 2006 |

If you see something real shiny flying over the state of Oregon it's Bill Moos' golden parachute.

Moos can say all he wants about spending time with his family, and it might be true, after all he has 5 children. But when you read between the lines and also read his Termination Agreement you can speculate that these big time donors at the University of Oregon were going to make it real easy for Moos to leave.

This story was fir...

Jermaine O'Neal

10:05 PM Tue, Nov 28, 2006 |

Had a nice conversation with Jermaine O'Neal prior to tonight's game with the Blazers. Jermaine told me that he doesn't like to talk about what happened with him in Portland because he is grateful that Bob Whitsitt drafted him and he had the opportunity to grow as a person here. He says he also grew as a player, but never was able to showcase his talents. I asked him perhaps the mistake was not in playing him, but rather in drafting him in the...

Catch up time

7:52 PM Mon, Nov 27, 2006 |

Time to catch up on a couple of former Blazers. First Sebastian Telfair and an ailment I have never heard of before.

http://www.boston.com/sports/basketball/celtics/articles/2006/11/12/cause_of_ailment_unknown/

Next... Bonzi Wells is getting under the skin of another NBA coach. What a few months it's been for Wells. He tu...

Civil War Wrap

4:10 PM Fri, Nov 24, 2006 |
Rich Kurz

Another year and another classic Civil War - Oregon State wins it 30-28. This one went right down to the wire, and the team that executed best won. Look at the statistics; they were pretty similar for both teams, except in one category - special teams. And for the second week in a row, special teams ended up being Oregon's downfall.
Oregon would have won comfortably if its special teams had produced. Two missed field goals in the...

Civil War Blog -- Live From Reser Stadium

Rich Kurz

Hey there -- I'm Rich Kurz, a sports producer at KGW, and I'm in the press box at Reser Stadium for the 110th Civil War. Game time's less than 15 minutes away for this big game with plenty on the line. The home team has won the last nine games in the series. Check back - I'll be updating often, and be sure to send me your comments!

12:36 pm

First big news out of Corvallis -- the Ducks are going with Brady Leaf at QB over ...

If you're coming to my blog perhaps you saw the story I did with Gage Dole. He is the 5 year-old Lake Oswego boy who is battling Leukemia.

This is the information if you would like to donate.

It is courtesy of a friend of the Dole's family.

Gage's mom Lauren called me and wan...

More on Mike

9:42 PM Mon, Nov 20, 2006 |

IT IS CIVIL WAR WEEK.

LET ME START IT OFF THIS WAY.

THIS MAY BE CRAZY, THIS MAY SOUND UNCONVENTIONAL, BUT IF THE BEAVERS BEAT THE DUCKS OREGON STATE HEAD FOOTBALL COACH MIKE RILEY HAS TO BE NAMED PAC 10 COACH OF THE YEAR.

RILEY AND THE BEAVERS STARTED OFF PAC 10 PLAY 0-2.

AFTER THEIR LOSS TO WASHINGTON STATE A LOT OF BEAVER FANS DIDN'T THINK O-S-U WOULD WIN ANOTHER GAME.

MAYBE THEY WOULD BEAT STANFORD B...

What's the Internet ?

10:54 PM Thu, Nov 16, 2006 |

Larry King has had a wildly successful career. He had a radio show in Florida for a long time and his show on CNN has brought him riches beyond his wildest dreams.

But I've always wondered what the fascination is with him. Charlie Rose is a far better interviewer and far more knowledgable.

I would watch 10 Barabra Walters sit down interviews before I would watch one Larry King interview.

I just think those two people do...

For Married Men

7:24 PM Mon, Nov 13, 2006 |

Found this item floating around the internet. Thought it was hilarious.

ACTUAL AD IN THE CLASSIFFIED.

Another example of what happens when a man thinks on his own.

Farmington, UT 84025 - Aug 7, 2006

06' Suzuki GSXR 1000. $10,000. This bike is perfect! It has 1000 miles and has had its 500-mile dealer service. (Expensive) It's been adult ridden, all wheels have always been on the ground. I use it as a cruiser/co...

The L.A. Story

5:41 PM Mon, Nov 13, 2006 |

A weekend to forget for both the Ducks and the Beavers. Both teams still had a chance at halftime. Beavers up 7-6 and Ducks down 14-0.

So if you're an Oregon or Oregon State fan you probably looked up Sunday morning and saw the sky was falling.

It's predictable. That's what college football fans do.

You see there's only 12 or 13 college football games a year so when your team loses it really stings. Some fans want thei...

Zach Randolph

10:09 AM Fri, Nov 10, 2006 |

I said on the air last night that Zach Randolph is not only making a play for the all-star team, but at this rate he would have to be considered an MVP candidate.

Obviously 5 games into the season is a bit premature on both fronts. However, if he is still performing at this clip in a couple months I think national media members may start echoing those sentiments.

Now comes the big BUT.

But Zach has to show everyone, ins...

The Los Angeles Forty Niners

10:53 PM Wed, Nov 08, 2006 |

So I'm sitting at my desk and I see this come down on the news wire.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- The San Francisco 49ers ended negotiations
with the city about building a new stadium and plan to move to
either Santa Clara or somewhere else in California, The Associated
Press learned Wednesday night.

Surprised... yes.

Even though we're an hour plane ride away I didn't realize that the city and the niners ...

Brandon Roy

10:50 PM Wed, Nov 01, 2006 |

I can't think of too many athletes who get all hyped up and then are actually better than advertised.

Lebron James is one that comes to mind. He came into the NBA with more hype and accolades than any player ever. Come to think of it, any athlete of all time. But he delivered and will continue do do so.

Back to Roy.

Did you see what he did to the Sonics in his first pro game ?

Unbelievable.

There was a ...

Blazers Season Preview

6:34 PM Wed, Nov 01, 2006 |

Not a whole lot is expected from this year's team. The national media is really down on it.

But that's fine.

The national media thought the Tigers would walk all over the Cardinals in the World Series.

I think the Blazers are like a ball of clay, and Nate McMillan is slowly molding it into the team he wants it to be. Whoever is on board will be here for the long run. Whoever Nate doesn't want here will either not be pl...
