PDX Scene: November 2007 ArchivesIt's raining and there's no more college football for you. NO MORE. I've revamped the Harmon Kardon turntable and have been seeking out new copies of my favorite all time records. These ain't MP3 kids, this is the real deal and it's HEAVY as a motherlode. So heavy you can't lift the needle cause it's sucked onto the black wax vortex vacuum... It's never too early in the week for a concert, though sometimes Monday feels that way. Minneapolis faves (now based in NYC) The Hold Steady hit the stage at the Crystal Ballroom last night, not letting a small crowd keep them down. Maybe it was just the fact that the previous night they played a "dry" college campus, but the band brought its legendary energy all night. Plenty of other good shows coming up this week.... like Feis... The film is based on the true story of a 1970's Harlem crime lord whose exploits made him something of a cult figure.
