Recently in Music CategoryIt's been a surprisingly busy news week here, considering the holiday that usually everybody takes off early for to go relax - but what a TON of great happenings this Fourth! One of the coolest things I've ever done was cover the Olympic Trials under way in Eugene this week. Oregonians pad the ranks for team USA this year, check it out, it'll be a great way to celebrate the holiday t... Spring cranks up as the out of doors activities start to bloom. Even the summer campers are getting hosed by the winter that will never end. >> Continue reading: Wrestlers, garage, running with dogs Sun's out, eh?
Happy holidays and all that jazz, babies, it's my Friday so I gotta lot on my list. Thursday night, hey it's the holidays so plenty of folks are already cutting their Christmas slack, why not head out to one of Portland's finest adult clubs for the moustache and bad sweater contest. That's at the Devil's Point on SE 52 and Powell, sorry kids, big kids only. (And FREE)
It's never too early in the week for a concert, though sometimes Monday feels that way. Minneapolis faves (now based in NYC) The Hold Steady hit the stage at the Crystal Ballroom last night, not letting a small crowd keep them down. Maybe it was just the fact that the previous night they played a "dry" college campus, but the band brought its legendary energy all night. Plenty of other good shows coming up this week.... like Feis... Ever seem like concerts come in waves to P-town? If so, then get ready to get drenched this weekend. Friday night kicks off not one, not two, but three shows fighting for your buck - and your groove-time. As the rain starts in it seems a lot of times that club season starts up. Like my youth in Minnesota, when you can't be outside, ya best be in the basement or the garage making noise. Or lapping up noise in some form. |
