July 2009 ArchivesPortland Pickathon is bigger than ever at Pendarvis Farm near Mt. Scott. These relaxing summer weekends are exhausting me. But I'll be manning the desk here at kgw.com this one, so no out of town events for me. Of course I don't need to pimp the Portland Brewer's Fest. They get all the attention and man that place gets PACKED! There's the PDX Pop Now Festival at Ro... The Lebowski Fest Speed of Sound Tour stops at the Aladdin Theatre Wednesday, July 22, kicking off with Har Mar Superstar and a Lebowski-themed burlesque show, followed by a screening of the movie itself. Wednesday night's festivities kick off at 7:30 p.m. at the Aladdin, located at 3017 SE Milwaukie Ave. On Thursday ... It's not exactly a laid-back do nothing summer weekend. There are so many events and shows going on I just may stay home with my head in a blanket. But don't let that stop you. After you've recovered from Snoop Dogg at the Rose Garden Friday night - rattle up the kids and get on over to the first EVER Hawaii-a-Ween at VooDoo Donut II right off Sandy Boulevard. Voodoo Doughn... For starters, Saturday in my hood - the Mississippi Street fair has gotten HUGE, I say. thousands coming out to eat, drink and check out the booths tunes and events. Dunk Tank. Concerts in the park too. My person... While trying to pass the slow hours in the newsroom as most folk have already gone on holiday, I've put together some things to do this Saturday July Fourth: Up early enough to catch the traditional hot dog eating at Nathan's Coney Island< I will try and stay cool enough through the afternoon.
