May 2009 ArchivesNot a lot of time to blog this week - sorry folks, we been having lots of news. Since I know everyone will be in front of the grill - polish up the recipes for Henry's Summer Ale contest ...A couple kind of dogs will be around this weekend. After you spend your cash on cotton candy and Gravitron at the opening of the Key Bank Rose Fest Waterfront Village - Burlesque is back. After enjoying the sunshine all weekend - on Sunday the Mission Theater is hosting Portland Opera singers - as they do Tom Waits. The opera stars will be singing with Michael Papillo Lucky #13 in what they say will be the heavenly "honey and smoke" voices. It sounds pretty cool. Although the preview says there will be "not a raspy growl" among them - not sure if that's ... OK, I know these guys don't get very much attention, especially around these parts.
The Vaselines pre-dated Northwest indie rock and 'Twee' by a longshot, and their catchy pop anthems are back as tehy reformed for this year's tour. Rolling out the barbecue as soon as possible this year. Looking for ... Viewer/Twitter-er Amy sent us a link to the iPhone Happy Hour finder. I think phone books, weekly newspapers, club fliers and all sorts of communication modes I haven't thought of are now the way of the buggy whip. |
