For the love ... I finally get to blog.
Fall sets in and there's more to do still outside too - like pick pumpkins and squash, one to carve and one to throw in the crock pot. In Aurora, the harvest fest at Fir Point is under way. Also, the Sauvie Island cornmaze, farmtastic punkin patch, hayrides, produce store, animal barn and more sets you up for all those autumn adventures. (Scroll down for my crockpot corn squash soup recipe. Yes, it's cool to be that square now.) Friday night - shake it and contribute to a good cause at a benefit for local Joel Denton, who suffers from MS - PLENTY of killer bands including Fireballs of Freedom, Pure Country Gold, Lopez, DJs, a raffle and more all at Plan B in SE. OPA - who doesn't love to smash things like dishes? Portland's got a thriving Greek population so there's been nearly six decades of celebrating the Greek Festival! Runs Friday through Sunday at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral at 3131 NE Glisan St.
Sunday night - WOW - music industry insider Danny Goldberg will be at Powell's at 7:30 Sunday night to read from his new novel Bumping into Geniuses - behind the scenes with Led Zeppelin, Nirvana whew, a lot more. It's that time of year I feel like reading books next to a roaring fire. that got a bit messy though last year, considering my living room has no fireplace. Holy cow did you see this? As a must-confess-former Deadhead this auction house is selling off all kinds of historic gear, memorabilia, art. Like Pig Pen's harmonica and Vince Welnicks bowling ball!
Here it is: Squash corn chowder Peel and quarter squash, either boil to soften or chop in food processor. |
