Happy holidays and all that jazz, babies, it's my Friday so I gotta lot on my list. Thursday night, hey it's the holidays so plenty of folks are already cutting their Christmas slack, why not head out to one of Portland's finest adult clubs for the moustache and bad sweater contest. That's at the Devil's Point on SE 52 and Powell, sorry kids, big kids only. (And FREE)
Or, Mayoral hopeful Tram the Sam Adams lends his pipes to the Storm Large holiday cabaret, that's at Wonder Ballroom, NE Russell. After all that shopping drop off some toys for the KGW-Les Schwab Toy Drive. If you have any left over you can catch a slew of local talent at the Ash St. Saloon. Hosting their Toys for Tots drive. Morgan Grace Over at Berbati's Pan, Japa-uber-cuteness punks Shonen Knife return!!! I haven't seen these gals since about 1997, we were hanging out at Cheap Trick on the Waterfront, I saw three diminutive Asian, rocker girls, knowing they were in town, I tried to engage them in chat, but they didn't speak much English. Not like when we made them read Suzanne Somers poetry for a radio promo a few years earlier. I can't believe they've been around so long, moreover, I can't believe I'm so dang old. Get up in time Saturday and head to Pioneer Courthouse Square for around 200 tubas will blurt, bleat and blare carols downtown for the annual tuba Christmas sing along. Saturday night, rockabilly underground rebels THE BLASTERS will shake Dante's, these guys kept it stripped, simple and cool with like the third wave of hillbilly bop in the 80s, never goes bad. Merry merry, ho ho. |
