Emotional family reunion

At noon today we learned that the Stivers family was found after spending three weeks in the deep snow of the Oregon mountains.

We immediately sent reporter Pat Dooris, photographer Jon Gudgel and satellite truck operator Dan Dugan to Glendale to cover the story. Our quick action paid off because we were the only Portland television station there live during the 5 p.m. news for the emotional family reunion. Mom and Dad Stivers did not...

KGW Northwest NewsChannel 8 and The Oregonian announced today that we will sponsor two gubernatorial debates in April.

We have been working for several weeks to set up these debates. For some time it looked like Governor Ted Kulongoski might not debate this year. Over the past few months you have probably noticed a few changes on kgw.com. A few months back we started doing a daily Webcast on the site anchored by Tracy Barry. We try and post this Webcast every day at 3:45 p.m. It contains the top stories of the day, many of which have not aired on Northwest NewsChannel 8.
