Stephanie Stricklen: December 2008 ArchivesI don't know how your Christmas turned out, but mine was awesome. We ate too much and did a whole lot of sitting around with family and just generally had a nice, easy-going Christmas. And it snowed, which made all that Snowpocalypse worth it for me. I can't remember having a white Christmas, ever. The snow was great. It lasted forever (by Portland standards), and one of those days while I was washing the dishes I could see out of ... How cool is that? Katee Sackhoff is coming on Live @ 7 tonite. She even flew in a day early to do it, which means, basically, I owe her bigtime. If you're not familiar with her, she's a Portland gal who has made it in Hollywood. She plays a lead character in my favorite TV drama Battlestar Galactica. Yup. Battlestar Galactica. But before you tell me that sci-fi is not your thing.. I just want you to know t... I will apologize to each and every one of you who is totally 100% against the idea of it snowing tomorrow. I understand. It's just I feel soo ripped off after this past weekend's storm. Our neighborhood got what I can only describe as a 'dusting' and even that's a little generous. I was awed driving into downtown Portland on Monday and seeing the mess on the streets. But tomorrow is another day.. and another oppor... About a month ago I signed up to take part in this cool get-to-know-your-twitter neighbors assignment. Basically, you get the chance to ask a perfect stranger whatever questions you want. As someone who waited until 34 to have her first child.. I'm one of the 'last to go' among my friends. This means I have looked at a lot of ultrasound pictures of fuzzy images that, maybe, looked more like fancy sea monkeys or tiny aliens to me than a human baby. So, with that, I can now join the club and share my own (lucky!). The hospital offers 3D ultrasounds and I was all for it, until I asked the technician who told ... Sometimes waking up in your first trimester of pregnancy you feel.. hungover. Kinda dizzy, sorta nauseous, definitely tired. Only you didn't have some late night extravaganza.. no "girls night out", no party. At least that's how it went for me. But I haven't spent much time whining because in the big scheme of things, my first trimester was a breeze. I know women who ended up the hospital, they were so sick.. believe me, s... Yup. A little more than 3 months along. AND I'VE WANTED TO TELL YOU FOR WEEKS!! WEEKS! Between me feeling tired beyond belief, to having legendary breakouts that would make a high-school freshman blush, I've wanted to (over)share every high and low. But, I also wanted to make sure everything was okay with the little peanut and you can't get those kinds of answers until about week 12. So I waited. I found out I was pregnant right ... So, I twittered about this yesterday.. but 140 characters isn't enough to explain the drama that my poor dog went through before she found her way into our lives.
That's Harley, AKA Sally, AKA Montana, AKA ... We've had some interesting 7pm shows.. what, with the occasional catastrophic technical meltdown like Monday when the switcher died (hence the 5:30 commercial break going into our show). But, you know, when it has happened things have somehow looked relatively smooth on the air. Not perfect, but smooth enough that you wouldn't necessarily notice.
