Knock, knock.. who's there?
So there I am sitting in the live truck putting together my second live hit for the noon show and the door to the truck opens......... and standing there is one surprised looking Mike Donahue (from one of the "other" stations).
"Uh, wrong truck.." he laughs as he closes the door and walks away to the very similar looking live truck parked (basically) right next to us.
These things happen, and it's always nice to see someone else doing it besides me. ;-)
I think I'll be back to my normal routine next Wednesday which is when the regular blogging effort will return. It's just not a priority when I get up at 2:45am.. anchor.. then report and leave work at 3 in the afternoon. In fact, I'm writing this from home because I felt like I had to leave work before I got stuck in the afternoon rush hour and I thought you might get a chuckle out of the "matching live truck" story.
As for my OHSU MRI story today ... it wasn't my original story. I was efforting a piece on a study in the journal Pediatrics about SUV safety and children. I figured it would affect a lot of people and so it would have broad appeal. My bosses assigned the MRI story to me about 9:30 this morning after pulling Wilson Chow off of it so he could work on tomorrow morning's story (5am to 7am, baby!!). The MRI story is a good one too and certainly very visual.
Here are links to both the SUV and MRI stories:
First.. one newspaper's take on the SUV study (sorry for the long link.. I haven't taken the time to dust off the old html notebook from college to refresh my memory on how to hide it):

And another newspaper's take on the OHSU MRI story (I've met this reporter.. nice guy):

On a completely unrelated note I have THE cutest pictures of Joe Donlon's new puppy Lola and Matt Zaffino's puppy Xena. Maybe I'll toss those up tomorrow.... soo cute. Matt was lucky enough to marry one of my best friends Lisa. I remember when she asked me to babysit Xena while they headed out of town. Xena and I had a girls weekend. Girls weekend plus one. My dog Milo was in the mix, but he's neutered so, really.... anyway, they got along great and she was a dream. She is very lovey and uses that to get herself out of a jam when she's doing something she's not supposed to (like sneaking halfway up on the bed all the while pretending she just wants a head pet). Clever girl. Yup, sharing those photos sounds like a good idea for tomorrow.
Have a great night and stay dry!! Email me: sstricklen@kgw.com
