Last night's show was sooo by the seat of our pants. KGW's exeuctive producer came up to me this morning and said she could tell something was up, and when she talked to producer Aaron about it-- she got the full, behind-the-scenes story. It started with me making a stupid mistake. I forgot to get my leg strap for the IFB box (the box that lets me hear producer Aaron talk to me during the show). So I bolted back into the newsroom to... Well, I sailed right past my eentsy-teensy headache today thanks to a workload that caught me off guard. I think all that sitting around I did this past weekend screwed me up, so I sauntered into work thinking I would just take my sweet old time and BLAMO: you're in the noon.. get out of here and grab square voices while you can.. can you front that 5? How's that 7pm lookin'? Anyway, it wasn't mission-critical busy, by any means.. I was just... If you've been watching at 7pm, you know that producer Aaron and I love Twitter. But maybe you don't know what it is or how it works. Well, we posed the question to our Twitter friends of how best to explain it.. and they came through with some awesome suggestions. I like this clip, personally, which 'Delta Park Project' on Twitter forwarded to us. It'll take only about 2 minutes of your time but really gives it to you in a... So, I bolted to Whole Foods before work today to stock the mini fridge with goodies like pineapple, blackberries, peppers and the like.. and almost got sucked into the vortex of smelly candles. I have a total weakness for them. As I walked by, I caught them out of the corner of my eye and snapped around so fast I looked like a little kid in one of those toddler harnesses who just tried to climb over the edge of a fountain or chase a puppy. ... Last week JRaabe commented on the blog about the IFB box that you can see sticking... uh, sticking........ well, sticking conspicuously off my butt. Here's the deal: I clip on two pieces of equipment to the back of my pants -- a mic and an IFB that allows me to hear producer Aaron (@TheSquare for Twitterers). Normally, a standard blazer will cover it all up nicely. Or, if you're sitting behind a desk it's not a problem, either. Bu... One of the commenters in the Lars blog asks IN ALL CAPS if this is a HEALTH BLOG or a SELF INTEREST BLOG!! I wrote back to basically tell H.G.-- CORRECT! IT IS A SELF INTEREST BLOG! Although I couldn't bring myself to use the caps lock key. I've written about this before; this blog is changing. I'm doing the 7pm show and am not currently covering health stories with any regularity. But on our website changing the graphics, ... At least that's what some of you thought after seeing him on the 7pm show last night. You told me that I should keep my GOP-loving views to myself and stop promoting hate. Nice. I am also un-American (my personal favorite), super-conservative, and a card-carrying member of the right-wing. Even better. I'd be lying if I told you that I wasn't dissappointed in those of you made those assumptions about me... We had a few hits and misses today as we tried to tape a little promo for that new 7pm show I'm doing come Monday. Basically we wanted to tape it about 3pm but between other promos and some issues with graphics, we didn't get it done until about 4:45pm. S'alright-- it's done! My show starts Monday. 7pm. Wow. I can't believe it's already here.. I've known about it since.. mmm, I think April or May? Months. That's a long ... People mess up my last name all the time. And sometimes my first name, too. My boss has done it, viewers do it, marketers do it. It just happens. I was joking with someone here at the station today after he got my name wrong and showed him the following pic. I'm off and running with my election day assignment-- working roughly 3pm to midnite. I saved my ballot for election day and will cruise it by my drop-off site tomorrow morning. Then I'll make any last minute calls I need to, get in a fast dog-walk, and launch into Decision 2008. Now knowing how you feel about it, I have to tell you this election has been, by far, the most thrilling for me. The new puppy HARLEY will head ov... |
