~~ MYSTERY SOLVED ~~

No health stuff today! I'm anchoring the full am and noon news, so I've been busy with that. And I'm out of town for the next few days.. so I'll be back blogging mid next week. In the meantime.. let me solve the puzzle of what was wrong with that picture I showed you.

dave2.jpg

Yeah, that's one of our engineers Dave bending down to fix a printer after he just got done crawling under the newsdesk WHILE WE WERE ANCHORING!! There's no two ways about it... we must have a working printer and a working computer on the desk at that hour because so much changes at that time in the morning. I mean, it's not uncommon for the entire a-block (the first part of the newscast before the commercial) to get completely reshuffled while we're in the show (because of many reasons.. maybe neither of our live trucks can get a signal up in time.. or maybe we are forced to use a backup weather option because there are issues there.. or some video didn't get cut because there wasn't enough time). That 4:30 show is unique simply because of the time it starts.

So, Dave got caught on live TV trying to make sure we had our tools in proper working order. Thanks, Dave! And now you know that when you watch at 4:30 it's possible someone is crawling around under the anchor desk trying to make sure we're ready to go.

:-)

Ps. To the sweet older woman who keeps calling and not leaving her name (or anyone who might know who she is)... I will not be going back to my old librarian hairstyle (the pinned up one). Respectfully I must tell you that I don't care if it's "more sensible" and more "old-fashioned" and you preferred it. For now, I like this style. And in two years I will probably like something dramatically different. And two years after that.. same thing. That's how I roll. Which I know is neither a sensible, nor old-fashioned way of putting it. But, true. Very true.

See you next week!!!

Hello,
I couldn't find a link to the report on college students abusing adderall to make a comment about it, so I just used this one. Anyway, those reports on it just being to help study are bogus. When I was a freshman in college (about four years ago) I saw abuse of it on a daily basis. One of the more disturbing uses was by a certain guy who did it at least once a week. He would chop it up and snort it which kept him awake for at least two days at a time and he would be so hyped up, that he would completely clean his room (which he never did) cleaned all of his friend's rooms, mess up his room to clean it again, and ran up and down the hallways non stop for hours on end. When he couldn't find anything else to do, he would just sit and watch tv or be on the computer twitching. What was said at the end of the segment about it not having more of a kick than a cup of coffee obviously haven't tried it to the extent to which some other people are.

Welllll--the picture is waaay too blury for me to even see that there is a person down there. Oh, well.

I think it would be funny for you to have someone down there, who could even be playing with your toes while you're talking!!!

I like your hair, incidentally. I wonder whether that lady would come up to you in person and tell you the same thing or whether her anonymity helps her to say what she said.

Have a good trip!!

Hi Stephanie,

Very funny about Dave getting caught on TV. I'm sure there is a lot of stuff going on behind the live camera's we are not aware off. Personnally I love it when things don't go right to script it makes it for some very good laughs early in the morning. I also think you ALL handle it with grace. Keep up the great work.
Nathalie

PS your hair looks awesome.
