For whatever the reason, I'm not as passionate about romantic dining spots, as I am pizza places and breakfast joints... and yet somehow I still convinced my wife that I was a good catch.

I can tell you though, the most romantic dinner experience my wife and I have ever had took place at Fratelli, located in Portland's Pearl District on NW Hoyt between 12th & 13th (1230 NW Hoyt).

Now, part of that may have been where we were in our relationship at the time. It was our first Valentine's Day together... still more than a year away from our wedding... a good 2-1/2 years before the arrival of our twin boys.

Then again, the atmosphere at Fratelli certainly added to the evening. Warm, cozy, candle lit... all the elements you think of when you're picturing a romantic dinner. Plus, the food was great. We had heard before we went that their Italian menu selections were on the money, and we definitely weren't disappointed.

But enough about me... let's hear from you!!! What is your pick for the area's most romantic restaurant? And by "area", I'm not just talking about the city of Portland itself. Again, I'm talking about our entire viewing area... Vancouver, Salem, the Coast, Eastern Oregon, Bend, Washington County, Yamill County, Clackamas, Sherwood, St. Helens... wherever your favorite romantic restaurant is, I want to hear about it.

So please click on the comments link below, and post your nomination for "Area's Most Romantic Restaurant" now!!!!!

Dessert Noir in Beaverton is the most romantic restaurant in the area. It boasts intimate seating, dimmed lights and candles on the table to make the perfect ambience. Whether you are there for happy hour, dinner or dessert you are definitely up for a most romantic time! Please go check it out!

Ok I'm the first one to post. Here it goes. You have got to check out Le Bistro Montage for Valentine's day.

Valentine's Day is my birthday, so I'm not big on spending loads of cash. Not that I'm insensitive, it's just not fair right??

Anyway Montage does dinner for two for forty bucks. They food is fantastic and the drinks are even better. GO THERE. I COMMAND YOU....

Kyllo's in Lincoln City is the most romantic. My husband, Dave, love the atmosphere in the evening or during the day. Anytime, sunny or rainy is wonderful, looking out at the beach. The food is excellent too.

Good morning Drew,
The most romantic and best restaurant in Eastern Oregon is the Snaffle Bit Dinner House in John Day. She cooks the best steaks in the state. It is worth a trip in our direction.

My wife and I like Gray's at the Park in Vancouver. Great food- nice environment and I have never had a bad experience there. The wait-staff has been excellent! I have recommended Gray's at the Park to friends for Valentines Day and they were all pleased.

I was a big fan of 'Oba' as well.

We've been to a lot of resturants and this is our favorite so far.

Love your segment Drew! Keep up the good work!

hmm, i like mccormick & schmick's-- the original one... AND lauro kitchen.

It has to be the Melting Pot in downtown Portland. The service is amazing and the food is interactive. Pretty romantic.

I'm crazy about Jake's Grill on SW 10th Ave. downtown Portland. My husband took me there right before he proposed, so that's our favorite spot for capturing that romantic feel. We love their seafood!

KEIZER, OR: The best restaurant in the Salem area, hands down, is Carusos Italian Restaurant located on Statts Lake in Keizer. Not only is it romantic, but chef Jerry Phipps has created a culinary delight that teases the pallet with sensual delights that go beyond the ordinary.

If you are looking to impress a client, give something memorable to that special person in your life, or want to treat yourself to a dining experience that you will long remember, try Carusos!

Robin Barnes,
Salem, Oregon

My most romantic restaurant in Salem Oregon is Geppetto's Italian Restaurant on Lancaster Drive. They serve authentic Italian food in a cozy and friendly atmosphere. The food is great and they do a little something special for Valentines Day. You've got to try it. Gina McKenzie

Drew - Brownsville is easy to find, take I-5 south and take the Brownsville exit, between Albany and Eugene (about 20 miles south of Albany).

My husband and i like harbor side in portland,or. It is right by the water and you can have your own intimate booth for two with a nice view of the water. Very romantic and nice place for just two people.

Morning Drew, It's not local but worth the drive. My bid for most romantic would have to be Tidal Rave's in Depot Bay, Oregon. It's on the ocean side of 101 on the North part of Depot Bay. The view is awesome as is the food. I have yet to have anything there that was not great, worth the drive.

Corner table in the bar at The Ringside West. Bring in 3 roses with a card that reads, "Three special flowers for three special words". Without a doubt, the phase that pays! Order the onion rings, wedge salad, beef, and then throw in a good glass of wine and retire to your loveshack. OMG!

Eric Williams said:

Whoever posted Kyllo's in Lincoln City is an idiot. Ki West at Surftides in Lincoln City is way more romantic.

Andrew said:

Best romantic dinner in Clackamas is at the Old Mill Cafe on SE Sunnyside Road - a converted old flour mill with history, ambience, white tablecloths, candlelight and amazing homemade dinners... and don't forget the live music. My wife and I love it there especially in the back booths.

Brady said:

I agree with the very first post. Dessert Noir is the most romantic place in Beaverton. Great lighting, colorful décor, creative specialty drinks, and amazing desserts make this a great place to bring a date! Decent happy hour too.

Cathy Kirchner said:

Most romatic hmmmmmmmm Papa Haydn's east, Ringside West, Harborside, Heathman Hotel Restaurant, Black Rabbit at Edgefield, but the best place of all -------- my own kitchen. Food may not be quite as good or gourmet as some of the others, but I don't have to worry about driving home, and I can cook for a lot less that we would spend.

The Savoy at SE 25th and Clinton. Great atmosphere, yummy drinks and delectible menu. Retire to the cozy bar after dinner.

Heart Shaped Pizzas delivered to the low-maintenance loved one on your list for Valentine's Day. Papa John's has them. We would be glad to deliver some to the station if you like the idea. Have a great day!

Caruso's Italian Restaurant soon to open at their new location at Statts Lake in Keizer is the most romantic restaurant on the West Coast. The owners, Jerry & Angie Phipps and their staff provide a beautifully romantic atmosphere and superior service. You can "feel the love" unpon entering the restaurant and Angie and Jerry have a wonderful romantic story about how their restaurant became named "Carusos" which will melt your heart. We love them and have many friends from the Ptld area who love to travel to Keizer just to eat at Carusos. The food is outstanding, the service is perfecto and the atmosphers is so loving and romantic with a kick of "fun". We're so proud of Caruso's and all they give to our Keizer community. Caruso's is our most favorite "special event" or "lets go for a really nice, romantic dinner" place
in Oregon and possibly the entire West Coast.

I remember when Pazzo's used to have the wine room downstairs with red checkered tablecloths and Italian Wine bottles on the tables with drippy candles in them with wax dripped down over the edge of the bottle, and candles.....It was one of the most unique and romantic spots.Wonderful food as well.

The Everett Street Bistro is a charming and romantic spot for a date. It's especially romantic during the Christmas season when the white lights are adorning the trees outside, giving the streets a happy glow.
