Recently by Author (#246)By Adam Bjaranson The Blazers are sure streaky, aren't they? I guess that's one of the traits of a young team. But on Tuesday against the 'Arenas-less' Wizards...the Blazers showed signs of late season life. In the absence of Brandon Roy (who suffered a strained groin at the end of the 1st quarter), and LaMarcus Aldridge, (who was out with a sprained ankle suffered during Monday's loss to the Sonics), Portland shot lights out ... by Adam Bjaranson After winning an NBA best 13-straight games in the month of December....the Blazers have reversed course. They've lost 7 of their last 8...and 11 of their last 15. And today comes news that their "do it all" guard Brandon Roy will be out for at least the next 2 games. Here's the release from the Blazers today: Trail Blazers guard Brandon Roy did not accompany the team to Los Angeles, and wil... ....and they are your Portland Trail Blazers! Tonight, the young guns made it 18 wins in their last 20 games. Only the Jazz and Raptors have been able to slip past the Blazers since December 2nd. It's truely a remarkable feat--in any sport--regardless the professional level. Tonight's performance in New Jersey was indicative of how this team has been so successful. It was as simple as playing team basketball...sharing the ball....a... Of all the suprises on the local sports scene....the Blazers win streak (which ended last night at 13).....takes the cake! I'm gonna sound like a broken record here....but HOLY COW!!! I get that the Blazers are supposed to beat the Sonics these days. But this is getting a little ridiculous, isn't it? I feel like a kid in a candy store tonight. The Blazers just wrapped up their 10th consecutive win!!! Not bad when you get to cover a professional team for a living....and are a HUGE FAN at the same time :) No team in the entire NBA has won 10 straight games this season (not even Boston who is 21-3 at time of this posting). It's just an incredible feeling for this entire city. I'm proud of the postive picture it is painting on ... Why stop here? The Blazers are as amusing and entertaining a team as you will find right now. We all know, with continued success....the national attention keeps coming. Brandon Roy---of the 2-time Western Conference POW variety---was on the Jim Rome show this morning. ESPN was gushing over how the Blazers are winning on "First Take". Portland is becoming relevant on the basketball floor again....and it feels quite good from a journa... Why stop here? The Blazers are as amusing and entertaining a team as you will find right now. Yes, he's everywhere these days. As many of you remember from a former 'blog' of mine....I talked about Greg Oden and his new Beagle/Boston mix. His name is a classic too! It's "Charles Barkley McLovin"....no kidding! I also mentioned the new puppy I got shortly after the NBA Draft when the Blazers selected Oden numero uno!
The date---October 24th, 2007---was circled on the calendar long ago. Only because it was supposed to be the first meeting of Oden v. Durant. But because of injuries, neither suited up. Still, there was enough energy in the Rose Garden Wednesday to forget about that for about 2.5 hours. Reigning Rookie of the Year Brandon Roy spearheaded a late comeback for the Blazers....dropping in 14 of his 22 in the final quarter as Portland downe... |
