Adam Bjaranson: October 2007 ArchivesYes, he's everywhere these days. As many of you remember from a former 'blog' of mine....I talked about Greg Oden and his new Beagle/Boston mix. His name is a classic too! It's "Charles Barkley McLovin"....no kidding! I also mentioned the new puppy I got shortly after the NBA Draft when the Blazers selected Oden numero uno!
The date---October 24th, 2007---was circled on the calendar long ago. Only because it was supposed to be the first meeting of Oden v. Durant. But because of injuries, neither suited up. Still, there was enough energy in the Rose Garden Wednesday to forget about that for about 2.5 hours. Reigning Rookie of the Year Brandon Roy spearheaded a late comeback for the Blazers....dropping in 14 of his 22 in the final quarter as Portland downe... Alright, let's face it....basketball is getting violent. No, not Ron Artest-Stephen Jackson violent silly. There has been a rash of injuries that are knocking off player after NBA player this year. They are seriously dropping like flies these days. We know about that all too well here in Blazerville. Bobby McFerrin should probably sing the national anthem as the Blazers tip-off their preseason on Wednesday night. I like the idea, you? In the past few days...I've had a handful of people approach me about the outlook of the upcoming season. They are concerned, but mostly discouraged. They think that the injury bug is something that the Blazers (as a team) just can't seem to shake. Again, don't worry...be happy. It's the annual "feel good" day. Hordes of media converged on the Rose Garden this afternoon....to talk to each and every player about the upcoming season. There is plenty of optimism...even in the wake of Greg Oden's absence. Today was a true treat for myself and photographer Brian Warner. We ran into Blazers TV man Mike Barrett down there. He took us on a little tour of the new Post-Up Productions that is being revamped.
