Recently by Adam BjaransonBy Adam Bjaranson It has been 4,172 games since Bill Schonely last called a Trail Blazers game. Yes, I was bored, so I counted! Since that time, the team has seen some highs and lows. But come Wednesday night when the Blazers host Phoenix, Schonely will get behind the mic one more time. The 80-year-old Schonely will call the 3rd quarter of the game with current play-by-play man Brian ... By Adam Bjaranson Or, was it the other way around? My thinking is that the Blazers ponied up an offer that the 36-year-old could not refuse! Regardless, Howard is now an official Portland Trail Blazer. This marks Howard's 7th NBA team....but this is about much more than his future contributions 'on' the floor. Make no mistake about it... Kevin Pritchard brought the 15-year... By Adam Bjaranson Starting Wednesday morning at 12:01 a.m.... Kevin Pritchard will officially be in "The Game". Afterall, that's the beginning of the NBA's free-agency period. A time to flirt with prospective players, and gauge their interest on possibly joining the Blazers. Sure, there's the Turkoglu's, the Miller's, and the Kidd's of the world that will be looking for work. But, where KP h... By Adam Bjaranson If only for a day he is! College Basketball's reigning 'Player of the Year' will get to strut his stuff for the Blazers brass on Tuesday out in Tualatin. I know I'm not only in thinking that Tyler Hansbrough would be the perfect fit for the Blazers second unit. He brings a championship attitude, mental toughness, and physical play that Portland has lacked as of late. ... By Adam Bjaranson If the last two games in Houston are any indication, fingernails will be chewed down to the nub across the state of Oregon tonight. The Blazers lost a pair of games by a grand total of 4 points in the Bayou City. So, the trend is that Portland is closer and closer each game. In fact, I'm leaning on Portland tonight. This is THE BIGGEST game to date...and the Blazers ... Sure, there was the Rockets game when Brandon Roy hit the miracle shot. About 6 weeks later, Roy went for 52 in a win over Phoenix. Then came Wednesday night in San Antonio---a venue that Portland hadn't won in since the likes of Bonzi, Sheed, Sabas, and Pip were donning the black and red. This, was one of those "gut check" games. The Blazers trailed the 4-time NBA champs by 19 points midway through the se... How did you like that whoopin' Jazz fans? Portland proved yet again... that they are a force to be reckowned with at the Rose Garden. And yes, once again, the home team prevails in this series--- as it has in 12 of their last 13 meetings. The Blazers shredded up Utah 125 to 104....and it really wasn't even that close. What this all means is that the Blazers magic number to make the playoffs is do... Well, all signs point to Greg Oden returning to the floor on Wednesday when the Blazers pay a visit to Indiana. And maybe it's a little ironic, because it's Portland's one and only visit of the season to Oden's hometown. Hopefully, we'll get blessed with his presence for the remainder of the season. The Blazers practiced in Indianapolis on Tuesday, and Oden participated in the teams light workout.  ... It doesn't matter the time or the season... but when the Lakers come to Portland, they leave with a loss. For the 7th straight time-- dating back to February of 05-- the Blazers beat L.A. On Monday night, they did it very convincingly. But their 111-94 win was overshadowed by a flagrant foul that by Laker's forward Trevor Ariza.....which landed Blazers guard Rudy Fernandez in a Portland hospital overnight. >> Continue reading: Rudy Fernandez Injury Update Blazers win....Blazers win!!! Mark Mason's voice never sounded so good tonight at the Rose Garden...after Portland ended that nasty 9-game losing streak to the Indiana Pacers. In the process, it gives the Blazers a "perfect 10" straight wins at home. Jarrett Jack had a chance to sting Portland at the buzzer, but he could only draw iron. Portland wins, 107-105. So, it now se... |
