November 2008 ArchivesBy Joe Becker There was a story on Yahoo Sports that the Blazers have discussed a multiplayer trade with the Memphis Grizzlies and Blazers Forward Travis Outlaw and Grizzlies Guard Mike Conley were mentioned as two of the players. I've learned that the Grizzlies did call the Blazers about Outlaw....but a source told me that the Blazers are not interested at this time. Things are going well for the Blazers, who should get M... With Utah losing on their home floor... only the Blazers and Cavaliers have yet to lose a game at home. Impressive, right? Portland certainly did enough late in the game to warrant the 91-90 victory over the Kings.. even with off nights by LaMarcus Alridge, Greg Oden, and Rudy Ferandez. Those 3 key parts only managed to score 16 points total (just 3 each by Oden and Rudy). But yet again, the Blaz... By Joe Becker
The Blazers have put two great games back to back with blowout wins over the Bulls and Kings. Now, they have a big one at Phoenix. This one is on KGW tonight with the Pregame at 5:30pm. If the Blazers can a big win over the Suns...then they come home for three straight at the Rose Garden. They take on Sacramento, Miami and New Orleans on Monday, Wednesday and Fr... By Joe Becker
With their 7-5 record, the Blazers are now tied with Houston for the 10th best record in the NBA. Not bad, considering they have already played 8 road games. Only Detroit has played that many and the Blazers have two more in the next two days. They play at Sacramento and Phoenix. They looked great against the Bulls and they are still learning to play with each other. Marte... The Bulls are not a bad NBA team... but the Blazers made them look plain silly out there tonight. As a result... Portland had their first win by more than 40 points in 9 long years. Expectations are on the rise in the Rose City. The Blazers put together one of their best all-around efforts in the Nate McMillan era... they played superb defense--which is where it all starts... they distributed the basketba... By Joe Becker Blazers Center Greg Oden is ready for another big step. Tonight against Chicago is his first NBA regular season game at the Rose Garden. It should be another exciting night. A tough loss for the Blazers at Golden St...but how about Oden? The big fella keeps getting better and better with each game. Against the Warriors he was up to 30 minutes of playing time and had 22 pts and 10 rebs. ... By Joe Becker Great to see Greg Oden back in the lineup. Greg gets to play and the Blazers get another victory beating the Heat in Miami 104-96. Oden played 16 minutes and had 3 pts, 2 rebs and 2 blocked shots. Afterward he said he felt good Blazer fans should feel good because hopefully, Oden can put the injuries behind him and keep improving. He has a lot of adjusting to do to the NBA ... Alas, the big fella is returning! It's been two lonely weeks without the Blazers franchise center in the lineup, but he's returning with some firepower for Wednesday's game in South Florida. When the Blazers and Heat tip off on ESPN (and CSN NW)... Oden will be on the bench. This may be more newsworthy. Oden has been out of action since tweaking his foot/ankle two weeks ago on opening night. ... It will go down as a landmark victory... sort of. The Blazers 106-99 win on Monday night was Portland's first in Orlando since 2004. And they used a steady dose of Brandon Roy to twart anything the Magic had. Although, both Hedo Turkoglu and Dwight Howard combined to score two-thirds of Orlando's points (64 of their 99). But enough about the Magic... because the Blazers won this wo... By Joe Becker
The Blazers hit the road this week and it will definately be a good test for this young Blazers team. They have Orlando, Miami, New Orleans and Minnesota in just six days. If they can go 500 it would be a great trip. It certainly has been an entertaining week with the Blazers keeping their home record perfect. I dont know if you saw it or not...but we had Former Blazers Coach Rick Ad... By Joe Becker What a crazy night. Since we carried the Blazers game with the Timberwolves we didnt have a 6:30pm Newscast tonight. So, I waited for the Beavers to finish beating UCLA and then I went over to the Rose Garden to catch the first part of the game. I stayed for the first qtr and still saw half of Kevin Love's point total. That's right, Kevin had a rough debut as a Pro in ... By Joe Becker Unbelievable. That is about the only way to describe the end of the Blazers game with the Houston Rockets. Game tied...and Brandon Roy hits the game winner with 1.9 seconds to go. 98-96 Blazers! Wait, Yao Ming hits a shot with point 8 seconds to go and he is fouled by Roy. He makes the free throw. 99-98 Rockets. But then Roy buries a 30-foot bomb at the Buzzer in the final 8 tent... |
