Laural asked me to join her this year, and help with the emcee duties at the Waterfront Park starting line. I ended up taking my wireless microphone into the middle of the huge crowd - and having a wonderful morning. If you have never attended this event, I would highly recommend it nex... It's just what firefighters feared. The Gnarl fire on Mt. Hood exploded overnight - growing from 500 acres, to more than 2000. This fire was considered 'out' - not too long ago. But it has risen from the ashes - with a fury. The news is better, however, concerning the fire burning in Central Oregon. The Crescent Lake fire has calmed down, and evacuation orders have now been lifted. We'll update both siturati... If you like history, you'll love a story we're airing tonight on our 6 o'clock broadcast. We'll look back at a chapter of the Vietnam War, through the eyes of the pilots in a top secret squadron. Their call sign, was simply "Misty." It was a volunteer group, doing extremely dangerous work. Their official job description - was called "forward air control." They flew into North Vietnam, look... Any time you start something new, there are bound to be some bugs that need to be worked out. Such was the case last night, during the very first edition of our new 7:00 pm newscast. The Oregonian's political reporter, Jeff Mapes, was our scheduled 'in studio' guest. But he was nowhere to be found, so our producers had to scramble to get him on the phone -- right in the middle of the show. We did, luckily, and ended ... |
