Who's whispering in my ear?

The answer to that at 5pm is our smart, funny, adorable producer Gina Zandy. We wear an earpiece so Gina can talk to us during the show. She's always offering sweet nothings like "DROP A-15 IT'S NOT READY!" or "FLOAT WEATHER! GO TO BREAK." "GO TO BREAK! DIDN'T YOU HEAR ME!?"

But away from work Gina sings a different tune. Literally. She is a member of Portland's Sweet Adelines.130 women that range in age from 14 to 80 something, bringing a little harmony into the world. Gina has always loved to sing and joined the group as a way to meet people outside of TV news. No, I have no idea why she would want to do that. We are all very fun to be around!

We cannot sing as well as the Sweet Adelines though. Gina just got back from Hawaii and the International competition where the Portland group placed 9th in the world! I am including a picture of Gina with her medal below. We are all quite excited for her and wildly jealous about the Hawaii part too.

So tonight if you watch the news at 5 (please) you'll know it's Gina talking in my ear. Okay, sometimes talking loudly in my ear. But at least when she yells, Gina still has a lovely voice.

As always, thanks for watching.
