Knitters rock!
Seriously, I have heard from dozens of you since running the Bear Rescue story. Thank you all for your comments and your hard work making mittens for the bears to wear after surgery.
I wanted to post a picture of a finished one sent in by Alice Olsen.

What's really neat is that word of the bears plight is spreading through knitting groups throughout the country I also heard from a viewer who doesn't knit but has figured out how to make them out of fleece because she can sew.

If you didn't get a chance to see the story when we aired it you can still watch it now. I just checked and it is still on our website. Just go back to the home page, click on news, then special reports and you'll see it there.

I'm going to check with the zoo to see how many are coming in and maybe we can do a little follow up story. I'll let you all know.

Thank you so much for caring about this... and as always thank you for watching.

We now have a box of about 30 bear mittens at the zoo. We are going to be showcasing them during Bear Fair on May 10th at the zoo. We will have volunteer knitters outside the sun bear exhibit and patterns for those that want to tackle this. Thank you so much to all those fantastic knitters who have sent in their mittens and spreading the message about the horrors of the bear bile industry.
