Afghanistan is a country of many tribes separated or unified by ethnic base, language and geographic extremes. Bringing unity to the country under a new government is a daunting task, demanding fair and balanced acknowledgment of its diversity. As part of nation building, a common ground must be found, a rally point so to speak, that brings people together allowing them to bridge past their differences and stand as a unified mass. In western n... Kabul- At 11:15 am this morning local time, a VBIED/ IED was detonated 300 meters east of Camp Phoenix. A Quick Recreation Force (QRF) was dispatched. Over the past couple of weeks I have taken time to interview soldiers, listen to their perspectives and then balance all that I have taken in with my own views and positions. For the first time since college, my degree in History has become a active part of every day, as I reflect back on the many lessons of humanity that have been recorded over the centuries. As told to me by a friend before I left on this deployment... "Scott, you'll be reco... |
