I am a former Oregon resident but have lived abroad in E Asia for the last four years. My sister, another resident of Oregon is in the Oregon National Guard. Her unit was just deployed to Afghanistan. She is currently in Kabul. I find this blog to be immensely valuable as I am afforded an intimate perspective into the lives of soldiers who are perhaps experiencing to some degree or another what my sister is currently experiencing or may experience soon.
