While I agree with that, I will not agree that Vince did not have a large part in the Titans win Sunday over Jacksonville.

All Young has done since he came to the NFL is win!!!! Yes he had his personal problems and I agree benching him was the right thing to do, but how can you argue with success.

In Sunday's game he didn't have sensational stats, but he managed the game well, no turnovers and he kept drives alive with his feet.

I know, Sunday's performance will not stop the bashers, only Vince can do that, and judging by his latest, I think he just might.

I know it's just one game but the Spurs looked as though they have been playing together for years. The ball movement was outstanding and the defense, especially in the first half could not have been much better..

And then there is the play of Manu Ginobili. That had to be the best sight of all. Manu hit three pointers and drove to the basket the way Manu usually does, which showed me that this guy is healthy and back in form...

And as long as he stays healthy, Manu will continue to play at a top level, for a couple of reasons: first and foremost, he is a competitor and wants to win. But lets not forget, Manu is playing for a contract. He is in the final year of his deal with teh Spurs, so he has something to prove to the Spurs, or perhaps some other NBA team. Ouch, did I really say that?

Here we go again, it is that time of year, time to attack the BCS. In fact Utah Senator Orrin Hatch is going straight to the top, asking President Obama to step in and start an investigation. He say the BCS violates anti trust laws.

I hope he has some success with the President because the BCS continues to frustrate college football fans everywhere. I mean the BCS is nothing more than a beauty contest. It's USC, Florida, Alabama and everyone else.

Why do these schools get so much respect from everyone in the country. Immediatly following Texas' win over Oklahoma, I heard nothing but criticism about the Horns. How they should have crushed a depleted Sooner squad...

But after Florida barley escaped Arkansas at home, I heard nothing. Not to mention Alabama, who had a very difficult time with South Carolina.

Look, I don't have the perfect solution, but I know coaches should not have a say in the voting, they can't possible watch other teams. They, like many reporters only vote on what they see on ESPN after the fact or a the final scores in the next morning's newspapers.

Lets fix this thing!!!!! Or if not, lets begin a holiday, a national day to complain about the BCS...We do it every year anyway.

Is it just me or does anyone else sense the Longhorns getting no respect this season? Really it seems to happen every season, but this year seems a little different. I have been watching all the so called experts on those national shows and not one of them says the Horns will win, all of them have picked the Sooners.

Now you could look at that as a good thing, I mean what do we know? But just the complete lack of respect. The Sooners have lost 2 games this year: one to an over rated BYU squad, the other to a respectable MIami team.

I know Sam Bradford has been out of action, but if you think that O.U. offensive line is going to hold up against Texas, I have some swamp land in Arizona to sell. (sorry)

Texas has not played well offensively this year, but defensively, they are among the best.

So Texas will win this game and if Colt McCoy can find his rythym, they will win going away. But even if they do, don't expect any respect for the Rodney Dangerfield's of the NCAA, the Texas Longhorns.

You may find this hard to swallow, but I agree, the guy has all the tools to be a great NFL quarterback. His problem is the media, he actually cares about what we think.

That has to be it, doesn't it? I mean ever since the Jessica Simpson Mexico trip, Romo seems to have gotten worse. He was criticized unmercifully and that criticism continues and will continue until he does something worth praising.

The game against Denver pretty much summed up Romo lately, he is trying to be perfect with every throw instead of just throwing the ball and having fun. It's just like golf, the more you think, the worse your game gets, I think Tony is thinking way too much...

Most of the blame for that goes to the coaching staff, let Romo be Romo! The thing Cowboy fans loved about him in the begining was his improvasation, like the play he made on 4th and 3 to Sam Hurd. Allow him that opportunity and the Boys will be a much better team.

We have seen several top 10 teams bite the dust this year. Oklahoma, Penn St., USC, California, Oklahoma St., just to name a few.

This proves one thing, the preseason polls are worthless. It makes it virtually impossible for some teams to have a shot at a National Championship.

And we are seriously looking at one undefeated team left out in the cold once again. I know, same song, different verse, but maybe if we all keep signing eventually those in power will come to their senses.

For all of Tony's troubles, he did lead the Boys to a go ahead touchdown late in Sunday's loss to the GIants.

Then Eli Manning proceeded to perform surgery on the Cowboys secondary. The Cowboys have given up almost 900 total yards in the first two games of the season, almost half of that to a Tampa Bay team that may not win a game this season.

So go ahead and blame Tony, Wade and Jason, but while you at it, don't forget about Orlando, Terence, and DeMarcus.

Being a St. Louis Cardinals fan, I hate the Chicago Cubs. I like it when they lose!!! But not once when the Cubs beat the Cardinals did I ever spray paint Albert Pujols front yard.

If you don't kbnow where I am going with this, let me explain. Some jerk in Buffalo spray painted an obscenity in the front yard of Bills cornerback Leodis McKelvin. The fan was upset that McKelvin fumbled the kick that allowed the Patriots to rally back and beat the Bills Monday night 25-24.

Look, I believe fans have the right to boo, after all tickets are expensive. But when it comes to the players after the game, at their homes or anywhere else, leave them alone! Please remember, it's just a game, he didn't mean to fumble, he wanted to win just as much as anyone.

Sports is fun, it's an escape from the struggles of everyday life, but when it's over it's over, move on and look forward to next week, or in the Cubs case, next year!

This has to be one of the hardest blogs I have written since KENS 5 .Com began simply because I don't want to come across the wrong way. So here goes, a river parade, really?

The McAllister Park Little Leaguers will parade down the river this Sunday in recognition of their outstanding performance at the Little League World Series. While it was an outstanding performance does it warrant a river parade?

I think we are sending the wrong message to these kids and others like them. We have had several championship performances in this city, by Pop Warner football teams, cheerleading groups, tennis players, not to mention State Championships in football, baseball etc, and not one of these teams has been treated to a river parade, and they won a championship.

The reason we are so intrigued by McAllister Park is because their games were televised, we all got to see their performance first hand, and yes it had this city electrified.

But just because those other performances were not on t.v. doesn't make them any less significant.

Keep in mind, the kids are not the ones clamoring for this attention, they seem like great kids, this other stuff, quite frankly reeks of politics.

I salute the McAllister Park Little Leaguers, the coaches and the parents. I enjoyed welcoming them home at the airport, but a river parade? really??

Robinson will be inducted September 12th in Springfield, Massachusets. He goes in with a star studded class, including Michael Jordan. But even MJ is not in the same league when it comes to the overall Mr. Robinson.

Cowbioys Stadium is THE most spectacular sporting facility I have ever seen. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has repeatedly said how he could have built a stadium for about half the 1.1 billion dollar price tag, but he wanted the wow factor, he has achieved his goal, The stadium is all glitter, from the three levels of luxury suits around the stadium, to the field level suites, the party platforms and oh yes, the controversial 60 yard long, high definition jumbo tron.

In fact, the wow factor begins the moment your drive into the parking lot. The stadium has the appearrance of one of those futuristic space ships you see in the movies.

Who knows how the Cowboys will fare this season, I'm thinking somewhere around 9-7, but they will wow us all every time they line up and play at Jerry World aka Cowboys Stadium

So is that what Wade Phillips meant by a new, tougher attitude? Perhaps, but will it really do the Cowboys any good?

Of course that remains to be seen, but you have to give them an "A" for effort. Sometimes the extra work will get marginal guys to perform at a higher level, and if this team is going to make any noise this year, some of those guys will have to perform.

I would put the Cowboys starters against anyone, but if one of those guys goes down, look out!

Depth is going to be the biggest problem for Wade and Jerry this season.

The Cowboys have been in San Antonio for a little over 2 weeks now, preparing for the upcoming season. They came in with several questions, so the question now, do we have any answers?

The biggest question coming in, wide receivers. It's hard to judge based soley on camp, but from what I have seen, the Cowboys should be thrilled! Sam Hurd and Miles Austin have both looked spectacular, and then there is Patrick Crayton, this guy is making a case for the number one job! Roy Williams and Tony Romo were miles apart at the beginning, but have closed the gap some what.

The other big question I had coming in was the secondary. That to me still remains a big question mark. Terence Newman is the X Factor, can he stay healthy? Already he has missed several practice sessions. Ken Hamlin is the anchor, and Gerald Sensabaugh will be helpful, but after that, the Boys have nothing but young raw talent that has not been tested.

The strength of this team, linebackers. DeMarcus Ware is by far the best player on this team. Then you have Bradie James, Keith Brooking, Anthony Spencer and Bobby Carpenter.

Bottom line, the Cowboys will have to control the football and keep that weak secondary off the field. If not, get ready to watch the playoffs another year with your Cowboys in the mix.

Spurs fans are up in arms these days with the news that Tony Parker was injured in France playing for the French National Team. If you have not heard by now, Parker collided with an opponent, and turned his ankle. An MRI revealed no major damage and he will be back in action very soon. But obviously, Spurs fans are nervous, having flashbacks to last summer when Manu Ginobili went down playing for Argentina.

Many fans are wondering why these guys play at all in the summer, why not rest and get ready for the season? After all, the Spurs pay the bills. But consider this, both Tony and Manu, and most every other NBA player feel a sense of patriotic duty to play for their respective countries, and most players also receive an enormous amount of pressure from their countrymen to play. So I say give these guys an excuse not to play. The NBA could do this in a heartbeat, but the chase for the almighty dollar is why Comissioner Stern will never ban players from playing for their countries. The NBA needs the overseas dollars.

So just keep watching and hoping tha nothing happens, because really at this point, it's all any of us can do

It has been a very tragic week in the sports world, first the murder of Steve McNair and now the murder of boxer Arturo Gatti. The saddest part, is that both of these tragedies could have been prevented.

McNair was having an affair with a 20 year old and Gatti, according to some, was very abusive to his 23 year old wife. Look, I have no right to judge anyone, and McNair was a very good man of the community, but all of that is seems to be forgotten when the circumstances of his life come to light.

Thats why we are so blessed here to have sports stars that manage to avoid alot of the things that both McNair and Gatti could not.

"Jesse" James Leija comes to mind, as does David Robinson. Both of these guys are pillars of this community.

Goerge Gervin is another, a guy who had his problems, but got past them and now has to be one of the most charitable guys I know.

The list goes on and on.

Lets be thankful San Antonio, we live in a great community with sports stars that take the time to look before they leap!
